First (break-in) oil change. . .and some observations.

Here is a few shots of mine. I was not sure of which side you wanted to see.

Yeah, it's the driver side of the air filter housing, where the lugs from the upper part slide the slots of the lower part. I don't see the openings in your pics but the pics aren't really from the correct angle. If you had a small mirror it would be easier to see what I'm talking about. Find the lugs / slots I'm talking about and you should be able to see the orange filter seal. Thanks for the pics! --Rob

Champ filters actually make some of the Fram filters along with some OEMs to spec. If you go to Rock Auto.com you can get Champ xl filters dirt cheap delivered. I buy them six at a time since I change my oil every 4k. They filter 99% down to 20 microns and I've used them for years!

Well mine looks the same, so I am guessing it is normal, since I haven't opened mine yet.

Thanks for checking it for me! I assumed it was the way it's designed to be, but it's always helpful to have another reference to compare to. That being said, I could see how the gasket seal of various non-OEM filters could allow contaminants to enter the filter housing if the gasket wasn't thick enough. Something to consider when shopping for air filters.
