Good morning all! I’m curious if a cold air intake is worth it on my 17. I already have a high flow non oiled filter in the stock box. Is there any benefit to a cai? Is there anything else I can do to make the hemi breath better?

I liked the way mine looks is the "only" reason I bought it. "If" it does anything better other than sound I can't tell it by the seat of my pants but I would buy it again because I still love the looks!

Okay, I did some reading about the ecodiesel airbox and snorkel fitting my truck, is there a benefit to those parts?

How the oem draws in air is the best I ever had, protected inside that fender well. Every time I go to replace my air filter it is never dirty, and this on a gravel road. You already have a high flow filter, I don't see any gains with a cai personally, could be wrong just an opinion. The other opinion is that with a cai it will get more dirty in use then drawing air from that protected spot.

The Vararam is the only after-market CAI that has documented performance gains at the track, with the exception of the custom track intake made by Moe's Performance. If your truck is relatively stock you are probably not going to gain much by installing a Vararam alone. The stock intake does a pretty good job. As you do more mods to your truck I would suggest you consider the Vararam.

I've had good luck with Diablo with a custom tune by Hemifever. A custom tune is always better than the "canned tunes" sent from the factory. Everyone has their favorite. Another tuner is HP. Lots of people have had success with them also.

Yep. This is a great looking after market cai.

Imo, I believe that this type of set-up would be more likely than the "others" to benefit some type of hp/trq. gains by just using it alone and would be a much better performance beneifit with shorty headers/sport custom tune of some type and a performance exhaust system. (x or y pipe, muffler (s), etc. jm2¢

I may go ahead and purchase a set of aFe shorty headers now while I still have the studs, ect. on my factory HEMI manifolds so as not having to go through the bs of removing broken studs, warping manifolds and having to listen to that "ticking" noise. Maybe I'll add a sport tune later ... IDK.

I put this Injen cai on my 2019 classic. Fit great, looks good, got a good price.
Performance results: no increase in anything. Mpg is the same, power is the same, being enclosed the sound is the same.
Most cai manufacturers advertise minimal power gains at or above 4,000 rpm. Who drives in that rpm range on a daily driver basis????

Total waste? No because I like the look. A lot of $$$$ for a look that no one sees except the guy that changes the oil….oh wait, that’s ME!!

My 2016 Minotaur came with an S&B CAI installed from the factory along with a high flow Magnaflow exhaust with twin high flow cats. Definitely looks good, sounds good and performs good!D6FC99CA-6D95-4B88-8202-E8D6FDF922F9.jpeg

I had the Vararam for quite a few years. Other than making things louder I didn’t notice any performance increase. The rubber sheathing on the bottom of the Vararam started falling apart and I just put the stock intake back on. I also have a Diablo Hemifever tune and that does offer significant performance improvements.

I got the Volant intake which is very simar to the S&B intake. The 2 reasons I got it were 1 I got it used at a good price and 2 I wanted to use the Donaldson filter for better filtration and longer service life. I haven't noticed any performance or MPG difference. Had I not come across a used one I would not have bought it.

I have to admit the Vararam sure looks good when you add a few other under the hood accessories.
