IMO the SRI had better power gains on my previous vehicle (speed3) vs a CAI

For an intake, it's best to find one that's enclosed, keeping the hot engine air out. Also, like Dave said, this will keep you dry in the event of EPIC mudding adventures lolz

Volant FTW! I've had one on each of my trucks, never had a problem and love the sound!

Yup. Volant for gas
S&B for diesel

What kinds of power gains are you seeing? How has the throttle response changed with the volant intake? $450 seems steep.

Airaid!!!!!!!!!!!!! & the reasons why!

Been doing my research but cant come up with a definitive answer on which model to choose. S and B l reviews are looking good along with K and N...any input??

Kinda new member here, been lurking for awhile, never really introduced myself. So hey every1, want to thank all the ram members for all their input! It seems like every1 on here loves their Ram as much as I do?!?!

I don't do much mudding, but the reasons I chose Airaid cai is because I noticed a few different design elements that I will list. 2012 ram 1500 Hemi express Quad cab

Pro's
1. The intake tube (tube going from cai box to throttle body) is like a triangular oval shape, not a straight tube like others I have seen. I'm not a engineer but their had to be some R&D to this design, otherwise it would be really easy(& cheaper) to stick a regular circular tube in there! Also, on the inside of tube there is special coating that makes it really smooth for the air.

2. Inside the cai box, the air filter connects to a tapered venturi like flange that is tapered to a smaller hole. It's not just a straight flange like I've seen with other cai. Some R&D went into this venturi like flange. Don't know why a company would make this special part if design didn't do anything. Way cheaper for a company to stick a straight flange. When I bought my intake system for my sports car from Stillen motorsports it came with a similar tapered venturi flange design, R&D went into this. The cai box also has that special coating inside that makes it very smooth.

3. The airfilter itself is really big if not the biggest i've seen compared to the others. They also offer 2 air filters (oiled & oilless) I spoke to the Airaid tech who said oiled airfilter (If I remember correctly) flowed @ 1500 cfm compared to the oilless was @500cfm (don't quote me on the# but for sure it was @ 3X more cfm) that's why I got oiled filter! Only advantage according to tech guy with oilless is not dealing with oiling filter. He informed me oiless filters flow less because their woven tighter to compensate for no oil.
- Oilless airfilters flow less air than oiled filters! (auto anything is wrong on their description of these filters) Fact checked with Airaid tech.

4. Their are these rubber boots that connect airaid intake tube to the cai box & throttle body. These boots are tapered to fit the airaid intake tube which also seem to be larger in diameter than the other kits I've seen.

5. The size of the cai box is larger than some others I've seen. Fox example the Volant box is basically size of the filter so IMO harder to get your hand in to clean filter.

Cons

1. It's not a complete enclosed system like Volant & S&B cai but Airaid system can be modified to do this.

2. Size of the hole to the cai housing from outside air isn't same size as the hole in the fender but they give you this adapter piece to compensate (can be easily modified). Called airaid tech who informed me cause different year 4th generation rams had different size hole. Idk about that

Hope this helps any member thats looking into cai. Again special shout out to Bigdaddy, 0232345(aka)JJ, Trupiano, WhiteHemi, Blackedouthemi, 2K10hemiram, Blackouthemi, smilley303, queitpen and all the others that contribute that I didn't name...THANK YOU!

I can't give you the exact #s since I have not dyno-ed my truck but I can definitely hear and feel the difference. Saving up for exhaust to complete the package.

As for the price... check with the vendors on this site before you buy I got mine from Hemi450HP (Mark) and his price was well under $400 and shipping was included.
