Camshaft/lifter problem

What year is it that Dodge started developing the problem of the so called hemi tick and the problem with the camshaft and lifter failure.

Your 2007 should be solid; how many miles you got on it?

I wouldn’t worry about it to much unless the engine starts ticking very loud. Slight tick a lot of people have oil advice or additive advice to help with it. Im sure the issue is common, however, probably not a huge percent of rams out there have cam issue.

In fact I kind of wish someone would make a thread to have high mileage (130k plus) 5.7l post if they’ve had cam issues or loud ticking. I’d hope that most wouldn’t.

I agree with Post 5. Hemi valve train issues, tick, cam failure, roller gouging is not common on all Hemi's. Just some. My 03 5.7 has 230k miles. Mostly towing. never had a tick. Always used Tier 1 quality oil and filter. Changed at 4-5K. Enjoy your truck.

Tach tech, how often do you see the cam lifter problem at your shop? Are you able to guess a % of trucks affected bases on your shop visitors?

Took the truck to the dealer for this, covered by extended warranty but parts on back order for 4 weeks. Pissed
