Can anyone tell me what this tube is and what it does?

Hi,

I noticed a tube hanging from beneath my 2012 Ram 1500 this morning. It's near the rear of the vehicle.

I've attached two pics and am wondering if anyone can tell me what it is, what it does, and if it's easy for a DIYer to replace.

Where does it lead to? It almost looks like a differential vent tube.

I appreciate your input. Yes, it appears to be a differential vent tube. I will have to look into getting it fixed now.

Yeah the rear diff breather tube. Should go up on top of the rear cross member/frame and hook up there.

Make sure it's not stopped up and zip tie it as high as possible.

I’d be more concerned about your frame. Could be the picture lighting but that looks like it lived in an ocean for its life.

I thought Wisconsin salt mix was bad but maybe Canada just throws nitric acid down.

It's brutal, only way I've found to keep my vehicles looking pristine is to get rid of them every couple years, or never drive or expose them to winter.
