So cylinder 8 is already dead no compression. Lobe on the cam is wore down is my guess. Just want to be able to turn it on long enough to drive on the trailer.

Oh my bad lol. She roasted. Just pull the wire off the coil and the wire off injector That way it can't fire to miss lol

Thanks ill give it a try. I plan on replacing the cam / lifters / head bolts and gaskets or just dropping a brand new motor in it.

It's expensive. I regret not doing a 6.2/6.4 swap on mine when my lifters went. I replaced cam, lifters and gaskets and a bunch of other stuff while I was in there. I should have swapped it. [emoji19]

So you think its better to just swap it instead of fixing it? I got a steal on the truck so im fine either way. If I would buy a brand new 5.7L would I have the same issue down the road? Anything special needed for the 6.2 or 6.4 swap beside a new motor and new wiring harness?

I don't even think you need new harness to Be honest. I'm Sure it's a straight swap. Im a bit of a hp junkie so any little bit of power is a bonus.

By the looks of his avatar he's swapping it into a 4.7 truck Brandon.I know there's been a few guys swap a 5.7 in for the 4.7,but i have yet to hear of anybody having much luck with the swap afterwards, and they usually end up selling the truck. On paper it should be a do able swap as the 4.7 will bolt in,and the pcms are supposedly the same, but nobody ever keeps the truck after doing the swap, lol
