I had downloaded AlfaOBD some time ago, it worked fine, then went to use it today and now I cannot open the app. MacAfee antivirus says there is a virus or maliciuos software in the app, but my virus scan shows nothing. Has anyone ever encountered this? All my other programs and apps are ok. Tried downloading the link from where i purchased my license but it says the same thing every time. Not sure what to do. Help! I am using the PC version, not android.

You should be able to exclude the .exe from scanning somewhere in the program. I'm not familar with McAfee, so couldn't tell you exactly where though.

I've tried most antivirus programs and McAfee is the bottom of the barrel in my books.
I use AlfaOBD for windoze, too. I've never heard a peep about AlfaOBD from my antivirus program.

There are several online resources available to scan files if you have concerns, but if you downloaded AlfaOBD directly from Alexey, I wouldn't be too concerned.

This is the site we used to check unknown files when I volunteered at tenforums.com

This page will inform you on the false positive reporting procedure for McAfee.

Well, that is interesting enough! I thought I had a good antivirus program, lol. I also am having difficulty adjusting the odometer, I did manage to get the idle hours and driving hours changed but no luck with the odo. I kept getting a screen after i turned off the key and waited for 30 seconds that showed the Continental tires logo, not sure what that is all about. It was a yellow icon with the Continental logo, I am assuming it is mixed up and wants to change the screen preference......I am using the OBDLink SX cable and installed the Kaodtech bypass under the dash, so I shut it down. I also uninstalled the AlfaOBD app and reinstalled, now I cant get permission to run it, it says my license is not valid, I have emailed Alexy and he responded with no real answer yet, this is being a real pain in the butt. Maybe the SX cable is not compatible with my 2022 1500 Classic? I did uninstall McAfee and was able to download the app, i am at a loss........Thank You for your response.

O.K., this is it, I must have an issue with my Dell Laptop as I uninstalled McAfee on my Acer PC in my office, was able to download and open the AlfaOBD app, insert the license and now it is functioning. I installed the free version of Avast Antivirus for now, just to have something. Only thing is that the PC is an All in One with a 22" screen! Guess I will cart it into the garage and set it on the passenger seat or whatever and see if this will work again tomorrow! Good Lord!

I use the OBDLink SX and the KaodTech bypass cable on my '21 with no issues.

I've read about many members having a challenge to get the odometer tweaking lined up.

Search the threads here and you might find some valuable tips. Use the search utility in the upper right corner, searching things like 'setting odometer with AlfaOBD' and the like.

I'll look tomorrow with my PC and post what I find.

BTW, I own an older Dell laptop and it could be a PITA before I tweaked the hell out of it.

I retired it about 7 years ago. I sometimes use it for testing. And, I will never buy another Dell again.

You're most welcome for the assist.

When reloading AlfaOBD on your PC / changing to another PC or going to a phone app, you need a new registration key. Just email Alexi at AlfaOBD (email is alfaobd.com) and he will send a new registration key for free.

Are you using the bypass cable?
Odometer is pretty straight forward. Open AlfaOBD to the start page and open "Instrument cluster:MY****"
Then stroll down to the "Odometer correction" and change the value. Note, the mileage is stored in the cluster will stay the same if the ECU is changed. You must include the 10/th of a mile (12234.5) for it to work. After the change, power down and let sit for a few minutes. Try the change again to see if it took.

Did this on a neighbor's ram and it worked just fine.

Still not working. Not sure why, doing everything I should. I will see if I can attach the screen that comes up after I try to set the odometer.

So, I was playing around with the numbers on the odometer setting and found that I had to put in 8165 to make my milage to 13140 which is 3 KMS more than actual. Not even close to how it should be done, I had to cycle the key off, disconnect and restart every time I made a change until I was at the 13140kms. I will leave it at that, close enough, but not how I imagined it would work. Going to let it sleep and hopefully everything else comes up ok. Not impressed with this situation at all, Alexey needs to be notified and I surely will let him know. Crazy huh?

That is truly odd. I am looking at AlfOBD now and it shows a setting there for a newer flavor of truck. In this case a 2109+. Your screen shot shows set for a 2013+ truck, which I wouldn't think compatible with your '21.

Try Bitdefender free. Gets higher ratings than Avast and seems to beg less for you to buy the full copy.

What's wrong with 13140 km?

miles to kilometers.jpg

I'm curious to know why you're using the advanced mode to connect?

I've been using AlfaOBD for about 2 years now and have only experimented with Advanced mode on a couple of occasions for specific testing purposes.
I use regular mode for everything.

Also, where are you seeing directions to change the ignition key state, and which state are you using during the AlfaOBD adjustments?

Not even close to how it should be done, I had to cycle the key off, disconnect and restart every time I made a change until I was at the 13140kms.

Why did you find it necessary to cycle the key and disconnect/restart every time?

I've read it posted many times that the key or start button must be in this state or that, yet with the large majority of tweaks I've made, I don't touch the start button at all unless directed to do so by AlfOBD.

Sometimes I may cycle the start button off-acc-run-off, after specific tweaks.

I did, on one occasion, adjust the wheel circumference while the truck was running.
That was the one and only time the ABS module went berserk, causing a DTC storm and loss of the speedo and EPS.

I missed this during the first couple of reviews, but eventually noticed,
Instrument Panel Cluster: DT MY2019+ PowerNet
This is the 4th gen section, I'm trusting the OP has a 1500 Classic.

My 2022 1500 is a classic, DS. That is why I did not select the DT option, also I used advanced mode to check if it automatically selected my 1500 ram but it didn't as shown if you scroll up, shows some car models. I only cycled the key on and off because that's the only way that I could get the mileage to correct. It wouldn't take any other way, just got stuck on that Continental logo screen. I am not sure if there are any implications as I haven't went for a drive yet but will today. 13140 KMS is just fine, I am ok with that. I don't drive the truck much as you can see with the mileage. I hope all will be ok. Thanks for pointing out details, I appreciate it.

Although AlfaOBD allows us a myriad of cool tweaks, it's far from perfect.

I haven't heard of anyone having success with Global Windows Up, but Global Windows Down is still quite useful. And other tweaks may work on some HD trucks but not others.

I'm not surprised that you might have to cycle the key to update some of the tweaks.
Thanks for reporting your success and challenges to get there.

This is valuable info for others following this path.

Discovered this, km range will not change. Any idea how to remedy this? I bought a used cluster from a wrecker, maybe it was like that all along, but curious if AlfaOBD has a fix. Won't move off 1999

Yes, I realize that. OP didn't state if it was a classic or not, just a '22 5.7 Hemi (from his profile) . There are often times when one posts in the wrong thread incorrectly, or doesn't know between a classic and a std 4th or 5th gen.

That only happens about 70% of the time.

Maybe it gets worse during certain planet alignments.
Yes, I agree.

Thanks guys but I did refer to my 22 as a classic, I was wondering if the SX cable was compatible or not. That was around the 3rd thread. I may have posted in the wrong category though, but I am new to this.

No worries, we were just poking fun at the many occasions where we have been mislead by other members.

You posted in the perfect spot and did nothing to mislead us. Thank you for helping us to provide information.

I also appreciate your new signature line.
