Car Wash and Tonneau Cover

I have had pick-ups before, but never one with a Tonneau Cover. So far I have taken the Tonneau Cover off to run through a car wash. Do you think that is necessary?

It is the soft/vinal OEM cover on a 2025 1500 Tungsten.

I go through with mine weekly in the winter. Doesn’t seem to hurt it after 5 years.

Not sure which cover you have, but I have an Extang Trifecta on my truck. I have also had this cover on my other trucks over the years. I run through the car wash with out issue. Mine folds up to the cab, I will unfold it before I use a car wash.

Not necessary to remove it. We have a truxedo low-pro soft roll up cover and have taken it through well over 100 car washes over the years. You'll be fine.

Auto car wash won't hurt anything. Be careful though if you ever use a pressure washer. If you get too close it can damage the threads or seams. It may seem common sense but I figured I'd mention it anyway. Touchless car washes I've been in are not close or powerful enough to do any damage like that.

I have the factory tri-fold on my 2022 and a Truxedo on my 2015 3500. Never an issue running through a car wash.

I have a cheaper Gator soft cover and go through the car wash all the time. Never had any issues.

OEM trifold tonneau on my 15 W/Rambox, never have taken it off for a carwash.
