For those of you guys that have iPhones there is a new radio that is already out that will support Apples new CarPlay through firmware update!

I'm pretty sold on this radio. It has a detachable screen easy way of hiding it out of sight! My question is how hard will this thing be to install? I know I will have to do some trimming on the inside for it to fit perfectly in the double din. What kinda of radio harness will I need and what will I need to maintain my steering wheel controls? Is there an adaptor that will let me use my current sat. antenna?

sorry for all the questions!

I have an AVIC-8000NEX and patiently waiting for CarPlay to be released. AVICSYNC which provides realtime updates to the Pioneer NAV has been delayed until the end of the year :(.

I had my pioneer receiver professionally installed but bought the equipment on my own. There are a few aftermarket adaptor harnesses out there. PAC and iDatalink are the ones I am familiar with. My recommendation is to go on to Crutchfield, select your vehicle and add the receiver to the cart. It will then prompt you with the various adaptors and accessories available for your install. If you aren't sure about what to choose, you can always call Crutchfield. They are great with answering questions and letting you know what you need.

You weren't even going to play around and went with the big boy, very nice I'd like to hear thoughts on Pioneers flagship deck.

I am on the fence on a 4000NEX right now. I really want it for CarPlay essentially and this delay is getting on my nerves.

The capacitive 7" touchscreen sold me. It has many of the same features as the rest of the NEX line. I really like the tuning flexibility. I have components in door locations with the tweeter in the door sail panels. Headliner has tweeters too. JL audio 3 1/2's in dash has to be tuned down given the sound reflection on the windshield. The sub (JL audio stealth box) under passenger rear seat sounds tight. Good for the type of music I listen to. Receiver cost would have been close to the same if I would have got multiple DSP's connected to stock receiver. I like having all the controls on the receiver to tune it.

The NAV systems looks good ... haven't gone on a road trip yet to give it a good test.

The haven't used all the functionality yet. Been playing with things here and there.

Sound like a good buy for you. I am really interested in the functionality with different phones as they seem to be promising a lot
