I have a few CDs that I'd like to play in my 2022 Ram Warlock. Opening up the center console it looks like I have a USB C Port that I can plug into.

Is there a CD player on Amazon that I can hide inside the console and play through the stock radio? I really don't want to convert all my CDs to mp3. I would just like to put in a CD in the CD player inside the console and have a peaceful drive to and from work. I hate talk radio, commercials and refuse to pay for music.

Links would be appreciated if there is. Thanks in advance.

Yea, I have a small fortune in CD's in a box somewhere in my house. For the longest time I refused to pay for any more music, too!
But let's jump ahead into the 21st century ;)
I now have YouTube Music (choose a service). If I had to buy the album or CD from all the different artists/songs I listen to - well, I simply couldn't afford it. No talk radio. No commercials. Just Music.

This is how the artists get paid in this day and age. There just aren't many people buying music any other way.
It's on my phone 24/7. It starts immediately when Android Auto connects, or I connect to my headphones.
You refuse to pay for music? You have to pay for music. Whether it be albums, 8 tracks, cassettes, CD's, or MP3's. You and I don't work for free and neither do the artists who create the music.
The days of 8 CD's or 12 cassettes for a penny from Columbia House or BMG are gone! This is how I received most of mine :p

I can't help you with a CD player, but I can tell you that you'll be much happier - you'll get much more for your money - and you won't have to carry anything other than your phone, if you just choose a music service - anything other than SiriusXM :emotions122:

I've been using these usbc adapters for my usb cordless mouse and older usb external drives on my mac: Syntech USB C to USB Adapter (2 Pack), 10Gbps USB3.2 Gen 2 Fit Side by Side, Type C Male to A 3.2 Female Adapter Compatible with iPhone 17 16 Pro Max/iPad/iMac/MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt 4/3 Devices

You mention Amazon; I'd upgrade to Prime and use Amazon Music. It has just about everything. I only have it because my wife did it. Otherwise I wouldn't pay, but man I'm glad I have it. I've discovered kick-ass albums I would never have heard of. You'll put those cd's in a box in the attic.

Good luck and post something if you find it!

Why not just rip your CD's to a USB thumb drive? Easy, free and no need to buy something else to break?

This is what I did years ago, except I copied every CD we had to my laptop and my wife's laptop. Then I transferred all the music to our Android phones.

Both vehicles (no Android Auto) will connect with our phones VIA Bluetooth so our music is always with us, walking, driving, at the gym, etc. Newer albums were easily purchased and downloaded through Amazon, but most came from CDs.

It took a while, for sure, but these files have been with us for years, through 2 laptop upgrades and 3 cell phone upgrades. Although my wife's 2011 Eclipse has a CD player and she still uses it, having the files everywhere has been really nice too.

As much as I agree with all of the above comments, I also have a good collection of CDs.

To the OP, they used to make CD players with a USB-A type connection. I'm not sure if they exist anymore.

My truck has a USB-C and 2 USB-A inside the console. Doesn't yours?

I have one of these older players, but I have never bothered to test it in the truck.

Try searching online with Google or your preferred search engine. This one below is priced at $51, but I would expect to pay less. Maybe that's it, though.

I pay $8.50/month for SiriusXM and have a few favourite music channels. To me, the sound quality of most music on SiriusXM sounds better than many of my older CDs transferred to a USB stick.

As a US resident, you can likely sign up for SiriusXM for $5 or $6/month.

I renew every year by calling the Customer Retention line at SiriusXM, and they don't bother to offer the full rate prices.

Sometimes it's worth pressing them for a better deal than their first offer or two. Last time, I kept pressing for $6, and I finally gave in and accepted $7.50 + tax.
Pricing in Canada is always more than in the US.

That's an excellent idea.

I don't know why I didn't think of it. I've copied several CDs to my laptop, then to USB sticks but never thought to transfer them directly to my phone.

I will be adding this project to my 'to do' list.

Do you have any preferred Android app to manage your audio selections?

Both our phones are 512Gb storage, basically USB sticks that are always with us.
Both laptops have 1Tb hard drives. Plenty of space.

Right now I'm using the VLC app, I have a dash cam and VLC also works well with video files. It's free and there are NO ads!
Also nice, as soon as I get back in the truck my sound system picks up right where it left off when I got out, playing the same song from the same list/album. I don't have to do anything.

Excellent and thanks.

I've used VLC as my primary video player on PCs for decades.

I'm not sure if my phone has that much available storage, but I'm confident it has more than required for a small music library.

I think the last time I recall this topic being discussed, someone mentioned that the truck wouldn't read from a cd player and the only way to make it work is to rip your cd's to mp3. My most expensive subscription is actually our family plan music service, but I use it daily so it more or less feels worth it.

Unicorn here, since I got a 2019, it has a OEM single CD player, not that I use it a lot. Pretty sure I got a Janus Joplin CD in the player or in the console.

I'm confident that I have at least Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits & Pearl on the USB stick.

I had one. Bought off Amazon. It plugged into the aux port on my 22. There is an aux feature in the new trucks access via the big screen so don’t know why a player would not work.
It was an effort to use it to be honest. Wires everywhere and would always show the tracks being played. I also went to memory stick after not very long! Oh and the player was garbage lol

I put my CDs on Apple Music on my computer, then transferred them to my phone, can browse and find whatever I want through CarPlay.

Our newest PC doesn't have a CD/DVD player. Our old PC still works (but it is really slow), but has a disk player. I drag that one out if I want to add stuff to iTunes.

I bought a new PC Dec 2024, but also got a RW +/- standalone CD unit that plugs into USB for info and any data I may have on CD's. Has a great search and write speed, but U know, there if I need to retrieve something I got somewhere on a CD.

Talk about something I do not want to do again! I have a box that's probably 8 cubic feet in volume, completely full of CDs plus a milk crate about half full.

15 years ago I took the time to burn them all to an external hard drive, back when computers still had CD Roms in them.

Then on deployment, all my 'war buddies' and I traded our music collection back and forth. I now have an external hard drive with over 80 gig of music. Last time I was messing with it, I could hit play and go 60+ days of playing music 24/7, and not repeat a song once.

I just can't bring myself to toss the CDs as they are the original investment, even though now-a-days I just pull up spotify and type a word and let it build a playlist for me. I dont pay for it, so every half dozen songs or so, they play a quick 30 second commercial.

Ya, I have a bit of a numbers fixation too. LOL

I missed that moment, and now it's gone... forever, but I will save a screenshot.
Thanks for feeding my obsession.

I often look at the odometer and see a cool number displayed. Then usually talk myself out of snapping a pic and sending it to my friends, who are confused as to why this nutbar is sending them miscellaneous odometer readings.

All but one of those friends, who sends me unusual numbers. LOL

That may be the CD I have. Next time in truck, will take a pic and post, lmao. Not making any extra trips, as U know why, lol.
