Hey folks!

Today got a CEL. It did feel limp a little but that could be in my head. Had to gas it on the highway yesterday and wondering if I clogged something or messed O2 sensor?! No codes when checking with key trick.

Check with a code reader. If the CEL is on there will be a code.

I’ve heard this could happen. Also, last night I remembered water leaking under my dash and steering wheel so I’m wondering now if that water is causing gremlins [emoji2955]

I think I found the culprit. Or at least a possibility. So, I installed my wiring for bull bar light a year ago or so and thinking that MAY be the access point. Although it’s been a year maybe it took that long.

Anyways, what sealant can I use on that firewall plate? Just regular silicone ? I don’t want it reacting with the foam wires etc

Thanks [emoji6]

Just plain old silicone should be fine.

You have water coming thru the clutch blank plate? Submarineing?
Regular silicone will be good to seal it.
Hmmm, now I have to check mine!

I ran my wire through the plate. Put looming around it. There isn’t any visible gaps as the looming is tight like a tiger but water is a ****** sometimes. So regular silicone won’t melt or react with anything on there ? I have so clear I believe for bathroom. So I should try that. I just don’t know how it’ll cure in this damp cold weather [emoji35]

I would think you would need to submerge the truck to get enough water there to cause a cel!
Do you park at a angle where water coming from elsewhere can get under dash?

I would really doubt the check engine light has anything to do with the aftermarket wiring. It's all guessing until you plug a scanner/reader in and retrieve the code(s).

You can mail order a OBDII/CAN compliant code reader for like $30. Some really nice ones are still under $50. Everyone should have one.

I’m not saying the light is. Sorry. I have another thread about my truck leaking water. And they sort of merged here. I noticed water dripping all over the wiring under my dash a week ago or
So and I’m thinking the water entry point may be the plate on the firewall. I’ll have to remove the looking and simply run the wire and seal up the hole as it’ll be bigger. I’m just hoping water on the connections under there didn’t fry anything. As for the reader I’ll go to auto shop and hook there’s up and see what I can see.

Well, it didn’t go away so I pulled battery terminals and I’ll plug back on in about 20. See if that helps. If not straight to dealer. They can deal with it lol

Drove around yesterday after pulling battery terminals and no CEL! Maybe was just a crappy gas cap [emoji2369]
