Hey guys. So I’m having a problem. Check gas cap light won’t turn off. Had a smoke test and all hoses are fine. Replaced Gas cap, Evap leak detection pump and solenoid with no luck. Can’t turn off the light, check engine light comes on but that one is able to be turned off. Any ideas?

Hard for anyone to help. You haven't listed year, engine, anything.

The CEL can be cleared with any scan tool. The Check gas cap light is cleared by performing a PCM reset, which only dealer and certain aftermarket scan tools will do.

Thank you everyone. The code is P0457. I was told the light would eventually turn off with time. But I’m not sure if that’s going to happen.

I had the same issue with my 2016. It was a faulty censor that was causing it had to go to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty in like 30 minutes.

I went through this ordeal a few months back. I replaced my gas cap, and it went away after I drove it for a bit. I have a 2009, so it may not be the same issue. How long has it been since you've changed the cap? Took me 2 - 3 days of driving before it disappeared.

Heres my take on this, though my truck had the 0456 Small Evap leak. Took it to my dealer and they did a smoke test. Prior to that, put a brand new gas cap on it. Anyways, smoke test revealed a small leak around the gas cap area. They sanded the lip of the filler nozzle with like scotchbrite pad, put a small film of grease on it, did another smoke test and the leak had stopped. Have not had the code come on since.
