Hey guys. Quick question since I'm at work. I found a guy selling a JET stage 1 chip on c list in my town for pretty cheap but it's for his 5.9. It is the one that plugs in under the hood so I will post a pic at the end of this. My issue is that I have to 5.2. When I googeled it it looked like it would fit both but I figured I would come to you guys for reassurance. Also I'm not fully knowledgeable about chips and tuners and all that so what kind of benefits would come from this other then what the website selling this chip claimed? Thanks again! I drove a 2nd gen with one and the guy at the car lot took it out and half way through the test drive he put it back in. It made a small difference.... Mostly with throttle response, that I could tell..... But other than that nothing lol you'd be better off with a sc.

Lol glad I asked before I made an impulse buy. I figured throttle response would be my only plus side though. Probably gonna pass on that then. Might pick up the k and n intake from him though. Looks like I should start doing a little research on some tuners then. What would you guys recommend looking into.

Superchips.

If you are just doing bolt on mods they are going to be the best. Once you get into some internal changes or turboed etc then a STC custom tuner will work.

I am running a Superchips 3715 as our trucks can't do the trans tuning as the newer trucks do. Get me a performance setting, a towing tune, and a mpg tune. I have gotten the best mileage on the performance setting.

I too have the 3715. Love it! Run the tow tune most of the time!

Looks like I'll have to look into the superchips then! I have only done bolt ons exhaust, intake, that sort of thing and probably won't plan on doing anything internally so the sct probably won't be too necessary haha

Im curious as to why everybody recommends superchips over sct. The sct is anywhere from $60 to $100 cheaper depending where you buy your sc from . Sct is $265 from hemifever. Are the superchips canned tunes like twice as good ? Plus if you change your mind on mods down the road you have the custom tunes option w/ sct. Price alone seems to make it a no- brainer for sct but 9outta 10 on here say sc,,,,what gives? Maybe i need to go start my own thread . Haha

Like stated above no reason to buy a new superchips. The 3715 can be found between 100-150. That price right there is a no brainer for me

Hey werm,,you can prob better xplain this for me. Why is it that the sc trans tunes only work on the newer trucks ? I have the 3rd gen body style but with the 2nd gen drive train. Are the trans not electronically controled on our style trucks or is it a seperate unit that runs the trans? Also do you know if the canned sct and sc tunes are comparable or does one seem to get better reviews than the other? I have never really seen anything comparing the stock tunes. Anybody ever run both?
