Remember, you have a plastic intake manifold when you reinstall--don't go all gorilla tightening the bolts.

never spray "inside" the TB....? iv never heard that. most all TB cleaners say to do this. CRC says and shows to spray inside the TB. seafoam also sells a product designed to spray right into the TB while it is running.

yep, the other threads on this subject warn of the same thing. Do not spray inside as we risk getting into the TB electronics. I too use CRC and there are some TB that "can be" sprayed. No elec parts "attached" Some member's remove the TB elec before spray cleaning. Fitz

My go to video when I had to clean my son's on his 5.3L.
If I remember correctly - if you unplug & remove there might be a relearn process for the T/B to go through.

This relearn process is something it does by it self after you restart the truck?

Unplugging it & moving by hand wont hurt anything. You may need to do a relearn afterwards. When I clean an electronic throttle body with solvent, I always hold it so the motor is on top. Little paranoid about the circuitry getting wet.

And don't spray a bunch of carb cleaner down the intake. I've fouled up O2 sensors that way before.

I don't know if this needs to be done on the 5.7L & 6.4L.

I did do this procedure on my son's 5.3L - idle 15min then drive in town then on highway.

afterwards idle & drive ability was much better.

Yeah. Mine just idled high for a minute and then settled right down. Don't hit the gas pedal. Just let it do it's thing. After that, driving it was 100% normal.

Good stuff in this thread! Of course, pulling battery cables might be smart if only to check the conditions of the posts...a little "two birds, one stone" deal

Did mine last night. Pulling the battery cable is the key. All is well and I moved the valve a little bit with no issues.
