HELP!! PLEASE!!!
I am at the end of the road with this fan issue that works for 5 minutes when I start the truck and, kicks off and stays off for 20+ minutes, then comes back on. Now it's not coming back on at all. I need A/C!!!
- changed blower motor resistor twice.
- replaced motor with new OEM motor.
- bought new A/C Dual Zone Climate Control Panel

What am I overlooking on the 2009 Ram 1500 Laramie w/315,000 miles on her?
Thanks

When you say "goes off", does that mean the cold air or the fan goes off?

If cold air goes off, may be a blend door in the ductwork is kaput, the refrigerant charge is low or a component in the AC system isn't working properly. Maybe your AC condenser is filthy / clogged up and and is freezing up.

If the fan goes off and the fuse is clean and seated properly, pull the TIPM and look at the plugs on the bottom. If that big BLUE wire is discolored or lose, or the connector pin and slot for that wire are burnt / discolored, that is the problem.

Not uncommon

Too many potential problems possible, and not being able to troubleshoot, there is no way to pin it down from here.

The AC Condenser example should have been AC Evaporator filthy and freezing up, not condenser.

If condenser is plugged up, you will get high head pressure on compressor and hopefully trip the high head safety switch, if equipped with one.

My bad

Hypothetically, If you were to answer the question below, from earlier, What would the answer be?

It narrows the problem down to one, of two systems and factors out some possibilities, pointing to others as more probable.

When you say "goes off", does that mean the cold air or the fan goes off?

The fan turns off.

Ok, that narrows it down to either the TIPM or the wiring between the blower motor and the TIPM.

The blower motor is controlled by the body control module typically, but in your truck (2009-2012), the BCM functions are all internal to the TIPM. The blower motor relay on your truck is integral and soldered onto the TIPM mainboard.

Basically, when you push a button or turn a knob, the HVAC module communicates with the TIPM on the CANbus network, and the TIPM actually closes the relay to power the blower motor.

If you can pull the TIPM main board, the relay can be bench tested and replaced (you'll need to know your way around a soldering iron).

Also, the connectors on the underside of the TIPM are famous for corroding to the point that you get a high resistance connection. They'll work, but under load, they heat up and lose connection intermittently. or melt, eventually. Pull the TIPM, unplug the connectors underneath and inspect them for corrosion.

If the TIPM connectors look fine, get a wiring diagram from somewhere like AllData DIY, or something. Use a multimeter and a test light to load test the circuits between the TIPM and the blower motor connector.

But, as others have mentioned, the TIPM is a common enough culprit that it is most like the issue.

Here is a recent thread from a member who had a similar issue and was able to install a bypass for the integrated blower motor relay.

It may be worth a read. His truck was a 2015, so probably different, but similar concept.
