Didn't know these existed, this may change my thoughts on a custom coil over setup.

The phone call I had with RideTech today changed mine.
$900 for a front pair. You do need to clearance the frame for the Bag, but otherwise full bolt on install.

The rear is even easier, and they also have 2 way adjustable shocks as an option.

This will allow height and both compression and rebound adjustment.
Front $900 w rebound adjustment
Rear $400 w/o Shocks
Rear $770 w rebound adjustment shocks
Rear $1300 w rebound and compression adjustment electronically

Their air management systems are expensive, and could probably be sourced elsewhere rather easily.

I would still like to see a nice coilover (nothing against the air bag/shock). What would be cool is if someone with deep pockets bought both, tested them, then reported findings/results! too much to ask for? lol

With that said, I finally bit the bullet and bought the Belltech drop coils, going to take some measurements before install, assess performance once installed, all the while sourcing similar springs in other rates.

also been thinking about a possible air assist bag up front for the belltech drop coil, similar to the durango air bags used in the rear drop coils. Or maybe even an inner spring to augment the outer spring......dual spring type setup......just spit balling really.....first step is to install springs and assess; more to follow

Not sure how that will work, as the shock is mounted inside the coil spring.

yeah that won't work at all then! that's the trouble with spit balling while on a deployment!:banghead:

Eh, some of the best design ideas come from Watercooler meetings.

You mean like an adjustable perch for the air spring???
Yeah, they got that.

Plenty of hot rods at track events and auto crosses running their stuff.
Air ride has gone a really long way.

Yea, that's pretty much exactly what I want hahaha. Guess I better start saving.

There are reasons you don't see air ride like this on high end race cars.
One, it's heavier, and unsprung weight is a big no-no.
Two, the air in the spring heats up and expands a significant amount, changing your spring rate. You can hold pressure constant, but that's tough to do.
Three, the spring rate is progressive. For street cars, that's great, but for a race car it's not so much.

This is cool though. I'm going to have to talk to Ride Tech again and get some details on it. Thanks for the info!!

KW Automotive offers a Variant 3 Coilover system for cars and race cars, that has a Hydraulic Lift System. I believe they are OEM on some Supercars, like Lamborghini, Porsche and more.
