2004 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi. When the temp is below about 40 degrees the truck starts fine first thing in the morning. Then travel about a half hour so the engine is up to temp. Then I shut the truck off and let it cool down for about half an hour to an hour. When I start the truck again it has a rough idle and a very bad hesitation. I can't get over 2000 rpms. The truck will jerk and spit and sputter. Sometimes I can hear what sounds like a backfire. The all of a sudden it seems like it clears itself out and runs fine. I just put in a new egr valve and cleaned the tb. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like there might be some condensation in the gas lines. Use a good gas conditioner like the lucas oil gas additive to get rid of the water.

I have put sea foam in the tank but that didn't seem to help any.

OH GOD NO. I have heard NOTHING but bad things about Sea Foam. Like I said use some Lucas fuel additive that should clear up everything. If you are running Ethanol based fuels then use the Lucas Ethanol treatment, it is specifically formulated to treat for ethanol based problems.

I'll have to try some. Is there anything else you would look at? How long do I have to run the Lucas additive?
