Looking at installing some polk audio db6501 speaker in my door and the db351 in the dash. My question is this, has anyone installed component speakers in their doors? and how or where did you mount the tweeters? This will be a complete upgrade, head unit and amp but going to start with the speakers. Pretty much have it mapped out, Pioneer AVH-P8400BH HU and Rockford AMP. I have the infinity system but as best I can tell right now, the guy that did the install of my other head unit butchered my wiring and has already bypassed the factory amp so there will be a complete wiring job too, this time I'm doing it and I'll know it right. Thanks for any inputs and ideas.

I just did components and posted a quick review with a couple of pictures on this thread:

Sound Ordnance

For some reason it went to the wrong thread.

i got my speakers from crutchfield...infinity reference 6500 cx.. they came with the black plastic piece so i could put the 6.5 into the 6x9 hole. where the tweeter is there was knockouts. i had a small issue with the ring that tightens the tweeter to the bracket hitting where the old speaker was.( note the small hole on top of where speaker is) i used the same speakers in the back behind the seats. im quite happy with the outcome.

I put my 6.5s in the doors and flush mounted the tweeters in the sail panel/mirror cover

That plate is a good idea. Like that it hides everything in the door and keeps the clean stock appearance. Not sure if it will work on my 3rd Gen but will look at it hard to see If I can make it work.

That is where I first thought about for the front doors. Glad to see that there is room there for them and may be where I put them.

Guessing the biggest question is for the rear doors. Mainly the tweeter, guess if I have to I can try and flush mount them in the door panels but with the tweeters in both doors and the 3.5's in the dash, are the highs going to over power my lows and mids?

If you are putting a nice set of components in the doors there is no reason to put speakers in the dash. So many people get hung up on filling every hole with speakers when in reality one nice set is sufficient. I have components in my front doors of my megacab. That it. Nothing in the dash, nothing in the rear doors. Just a set of components and a single sub and never once have I wished for more. I might break down and do rears if the kids start complaining but probably not. As far as the rears doors go I would use coaxials there instead of components. No reason to spend component money on the rear. Frees up a little money for nicer speakers in the front

I put my tweets in the front door sail panel/mirror cover too. I initially had them in the stock location but that sucked...they were too shrill and bright there. Letting them radiate out into open space made a huge difference.

Yep. Firing speakers into the windshield is almost never a good idea. I thought the infinity system in my truck sounded horrible just for that reason
