She's a new gun owner. Pa/nj are so close that ppl work in one state and live in the other. I can understand a slap on the wrist but 3yrs is a little to much. IMO.

No different than for me here in ri. If I go there with any of my legally owned guns even unloaded and get caught wth them, instant 1yr in jail. Being a new gun owner is not an excuse. The laws of neighboring states are something that every gun owner should know before going anywhere with their firearm, no excuses.

Back on topic, I usually just keep it on my hip. Unless it's a long trip then I do this. It's concealed when you're in the truck because your legs are in the way of viewing from outside, plus my truck is now high enough an average person wouldn't see it without struggling to. Great spot to grab it in a hurry if you ever needed as well.

That is about the only reason I would prefer the center console over my bench seat.

I have a neoprene blackhawk IWB holster (right handed) that clips on to the center cubby that pops out. just use some velcrow to hold in place from going with the gun upholstering and its perfect. I'll take some pics when i leave work. I think the holster was like 15-20 bucks at my gun shop.

on a side note I could care less if people see it. I live in MA were guns are bad an kill people more than anything else in the world (thats liberal sarcasm btw)... lol but cops walk around all day open carry and no one cares.. well guess what, why am i any different? so if you see it you see it I dont care, and MA is an open carry state anyways regardless of what people say.. 2A **** is so annoying around here.. I still CC every day 24/7 just cause after a while people look at you weird, and you can TECHNICALy get arrested for disturbing the peace if some one ******* enough.. but in my tuck is another story

Man, some of you guys are risking serious consequences having your guns in the vehicle like that. Where are you driving and what are you doing that you need to have such quick access to a firearm? I'll stick with my solution and be safe, stealthy and legal.

You know laws vary from state to state.
Here in Texas for example you can have a loaded handgun wherever you want in the vehicle as long as it's concealed. ...that could be sitting in the passenger seat with a t-shirt on top of it if you wanted.
Other states it's legal to have it out in plain view.

I know. I'm in FL and have a CCW, so I can legally just leave it on me in the car. I just don't see the need for it since I don't live or drive through a war zone and don't want to peg the nervousness meter on some cop just doing his job and wondering the same thing I am about the need for such fast access. To each his own.:)

I like your setup but if you actually needed to access it you'd have one hell of a time getting that out quick.

I posted this in a thread that was talking about the center cup holder area/drawer being useless. I find it holds my backup gun just fine.
My CCW 9mm I carry IWB in a Foxx Holster. If the trip is long enough that I get too uncomfortable here in MO I can legally have it anywhere in the cab, loaded and ready to go.
Why carry a pistol that is locked away? I use my car gun safe only when I'm going in someplace I can't carry legally like a courthouse or polling place...

I live here in this wonderfully horrible state too. With a FL CWP.

You never need it, till you need it.

There have been multiple studies that show, statistically, the .22 long is just as deadly for self defense as 9mm and .45 ACP. All of the energy of the .22 round is transferred to the assailant's body, and it tends to "bounce around" inside of the person. So with a good shot, and up close its very feasible. I'd personally prefer something with a little more ass to it.

that may be, but the main factor that stops the fight, particularly if the attacker is under the influence of something/altered state of mind, is incapacitation by rapid loss of blood pressure. You'd have to be a damn good shot and have time to place them properly as the 22lr does not open a big enough temporary wound track to cause enough damage.

Add to that rimfire really isn't all that reliable, even the higher end ammo like minimags misfire a LOT, especially in that ruger if your wrist isn't just tight enough, like in a situation where you're focused on someone else trying to kill you.

I kept a J frame with some 38 +P's in it in my console for a pretty long time but got rid of it, still trying to figure out what I want to get next. 38 +P is about the least I'd trust in a handgun for personal defense.

If you have some reason you need a 22 cal handgun for pdw as opposed to something bigger, at least go with a 22 mag.
