Hello,
I have a 2010 dodge ram 1500 with the 4.7l. The condenser fan is not coming on when I turn the ac on. It is a new complete assembly. I checked the fuses and relays in the fuse panel under the hood. I see people talk about the relay next to the horn. But I do not see it.

Really need some help please.

I did. Plugged the unit in. The fuses and relay have power. Even swapped the relays around.

It has been a bit since I participated in diagnosing an E fan issue but IIRC, the PCM provides a ground condition to start the fan, otherwise, both sides of the fan terminals have 12VDC and no fan operation.

I don't have time to find the details but a 2010 service manual is here.

Using a pdf viewer on a PC, use Ctrl F to word search.

Either the relay or wiring and/or connectors are damaged or the PCM is not providing a ground to start the fan. You could remove the fan connector and hot wire 12VDC to test the fan.

Thank you. I keep reading there is another relay, besides the two in the fuse box, around the grill area. Is that true

You may have to trace the wiring back, or check the service manual that RamDiver shared.

I'll check my PC when I get home, I may have a schematic drawing.

IIRC, there is a second relay mounted somewhere unusual.

Keep word searching the manual, you might find it.

Updated;

I found the fan relay schematic that a member provided when I was working with him.
I don't recall the model year so yours may not be the same but this is a good example if not the same.

rad fan schematic frm post 29.jpg

The Radiator fan low relay (1) at the top, next to the circuit board always has power on terminals 85 & 30. Terminal 86 is pulled low by the circuit board to energize the relay and apply power to terminal 87. This relay is located inside the TIPM.

Terminal 87 of relay #1 is connected to the fan motor winding via the dark blue/dark green wire.

The relay below the radiator fan on the schematic, identified as radiator fan relay (2), is mounted somewhere near the hood for this model year. You may be able to locate this relay by tracing the wires from the E-fan.

There are 3 wires connected to the E-fan on this drawing.
The dark blue/dark green wire from the radiator fan low relay (1).
The dark green/dark blue from the radiator fan relay (2).
And, the black wire for the ground path.

Terminal 86 of the radiator fan relay (2) always has power through a fuse. Terminal 85 is pulled low by the circuit board to energize this relay, to send power from terminal 30 to terminal 87. Power from terminal 87 is sent to the fan winding via the dark green/dark blue wire.

I'm tired but I think I got that straight. Someone will likely correct me if I make any errors.

BTW, I added numbering to the relays because that's how it should be done.

Hopefully, you will hot wire power to the fan and discover the fan is toast but if not, the above info should help you with further analysis. You will require a digital multimeter for testing. Walmart has several for less than $10.

When measuring power at the relay terminals, always be sure to measure with respect to (wrt) chassis ground. Place the black meter lead on the chassis and the red lead on the relay terminals.

Thank you all who responded. I am working this weekend. So I will check all this Monday when I’m off. The new fan works because it actually turned on once after installing it. But I am going to jump the fan directly to the battery to check it again.
