So I'm trying to figure out what wheel specs I need to go with. I wanted to go with Mamba M13's 17x9 wrapped in 35x12.5x17 Cooper STT's. I did some research and found that those wheels have the same offset as my 20" chromies, but they have 1/2" more backspace. Am I correct in assuming they will sit the same if not closer in? I'm worried about rubbing on the suspension. I currently have a 2.5" HBS level with plans to install a 1.5" Zone BL. Can anyone recommend a black 17x9 wheel for around $150 that will give the proper clearance? Sorry if this has been beaten to death already.

I think you need a lesser offset, i know with our 20's it'll rub with 35's without spacers. But I'm sure someone will chime in with the correct info

Yeah see that's where I'm confused I thought the offset needed to go higher in the positives to push the tires out...for example stock is 19mm so I thought I would need to go up to 25ish

Yea I thought the same thing before I worked in a tire shop. The more negative the offset, the further the mounting surface is to the back of the wheel, the more positive the closer to the front of the wheel the mounting surface is

You want an offset closer to zero to bring the wheels out. That's why stock wheels at +19mm when adding 35's need a spacer.

Edited as I am a retard. Haha. Put -19 not +19mm which is correct

Doesn't make sense he it looking at 17x9 with the same offset as OE chrome clads and they have different backspacing. They're 9" wide as well. Would the rim mounting plate being thicker make that possible? Wouldn't that cause less backspacing?

+1 on the negative offset pushing the wheels out. Positive offset will bring the wheels in.

Ok so now that we've established I had it bass-ackwards, anyone have a recommendation on a black 17x9 with less than +19 and for $150 or less per wheel?

Don't know about cost, but I liked the Fuel Hostage in 17's.

The offset doesnt have to be negative to push them farther. out.

anything below +19 is going to push them out. a Zero offset in my opinion is pretty far.

If you cant fine anything in 17x9s with lower than +19 offset you could always get some spacers.

I just dropped down to 17" -12 offset 8-hole steel rims(RIMS HERE). from the 20" stock wheels. They're supposed to be in Tuesday(1 week)
I found a great website: Willtheyfit.com that helps visualize rims and wheels. Just type in the size you have and the size you want.

Ok so now that we've established I had it bass-ackwards, anyone have a recommendation on a black 17x9 with less than +19 and for $150 or less per wheel?

these were listed at 96$ each and i bought 5 with tires. By the time you add wheel sensors and shipping you are still looking at 160$ per rim. I bought Kumho 265/70/r17 Tires(they're cheap, 109$ each, and I'm broke).
total 1500$ for 5 tires and 5 rims, mounted with speed sensors, balanced, and shipped(so $300 per wheel) I broke one of my stock 20's yesterday and this was an impulse/necessity buy on short funds.

Here's my new setup based on that website. I went to 31.6" tires from 33" and from 20" rims to 17"

I'm falling back on my original choice, 17x9 Pacer 164B. They're almost identical to the Mickey Thompson classic 3's and have -12 offset. Looks like I'll be driving away for about $1250 after trading in my chromies and goodyears. Thanks for the input everyone.:happy160:
