I have a 18 Hemi Express with Quad Cab. Pretty much stock except for Carven cat back exhaust.
Last July I started overheating, discovered the radiator was leaking and replaced the radiator with an aftermarket unit, upper and lower hoses, thermostat, replaced the coolant and radiator cap.
A month ago it overheated again. The tech at work (Subaru dealership) said it looked like a bubble in the coolant so we flushed and burped it along with installing a 180 degree thermostat.
That fixed it for a month and it's doing it again. I pressure tested it and checked the coolant for combustion gasses and the system is air tight, it's not leaking into the heads. There is no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. When I'm driving the truck and it overheats, if I turn the heater on the temperature lowers so the heater core has been eliminated as a problem.
I have a warranty radiator here and am replacing it and I'm replacing the water pump as a good practice as the truck has 150K+ miles. The fan is turning so the fan clutch should be good but I'm also considering replacing that as well as another good practice. Is there anything I'm missing? Has anyone had a cooling system that gave them fits?
Before I realized that my radiator had a warranty I was going to buy the unit below as a higher capacity unit. I live in Florida and it's safe to say that I run the hell out of my truck. Anyone have any higher capacity recommendations?
