Limited stock at dealership, so I can’t really ***** about it……but my truck was optioned up with the “trailering pkg”. Tow mirrors and the trailer steer knob. I’ve pulled trailers, boats, with trucks before and pulled doubles (piggy backs) at UPS for a few years before going back to regular delivery. I guess for someone new to trucks/hauling those features would be handy but I honestly didn’t need them. I’d much rather have gotten the spray in liner and LED’s. But like I said earlier, dealer inventory here is very limited so I took advantage of the 4500 rebate etc. Just not a fan of these wide arm mirrors, and flipping them upwards on a 1500 just looks like overkill to me.

That is a feature for people that can't wrap their brain around exactly how a mirror works.

Around 1980, the new employees would ask me if i could show them how to drive dump trucks, 6 - 10 wheeled & when they were ready, i helped them to learn how to use a tilt trailer & then even later, they learned to load & unload construction equipment.

There was only 1 person that could not back up a truck & trailer
He tried for a couple of years, he just could not contemplate how mirrors work.
I told him to remove his hands from the 10 & 2 positions on the steering wheel & try to use the bottom of the steering wheel instead.
It took about 20 days of practice & he was able to pass his DMV Class 1 Driving Test

To me, that Trailer Steer Knob would be like that guy that had to use the bottom of the steering wheel

I'm not familiar with the trailer steer knob. Is that something like the knob we used to put on those big steering wheels back in the day(no power steering of course)to make it easier to steer at low speed?

Nice looking truck. Some people do have trouble driving a trailer, I learned when I was 15 working in a boat yard.

I had not heard about this system until today
Maybe this video will help to understand why they installed it

If you have backed up a trailer often, you would know that when he backed alongside of that building & had to make a turn to his drivers side. The guidance system kept the trailer & the truck centered for too long, before the truck started cranking the front tires.
I know that it is because the guidance system can only interpret what the tailgate camera can actually see.
Without the system, the driver would be making an educated guess on just when to crank the wheel, because the driver in reality would have walked the route before attempting that maneuver, or a second person would be assisting with the positioning
