Went in for my oil change today. They always let me hang in the shop when they do it and do a once over the underbelly while it's on the hoist. Noticed some weeping on the transmission housing. Not bad- just enough to catch dust. Cleaned it up and noticed these marks in the photo.

What do you figure? Cracked or are they just ****** cast marks? They don't go all the way through, so I am figuring crap cast. I hope. uploadfromtaptalk1407032718929.jpg

I found a Dandy one on the inside of my casting when i did my Torque Converter, thought for sure i was in trouble, but it did not go through and so i left it, that was 60 k ago and never really thought about it since. I would point it out to the dealership anyhow on next visit, unless you said above that you sanded it out and it went away or reduced to a scratch. Danny

The one in the middle of the pic 3 rd "casting mark" looks like possibly a crack. Although doesn't look serious right now. The best way to check is to do what smurffs of wars said empty cloth and a file. If you take your finger across end it and it's raised up it's probably a casting mark if it's smooth and you can catch your finger nail on it it's probably a crack. The reason it looks like a crack is how jagged it is. Casting marks are normally a straight line even if the are not a good casting line. Good luck doesn't seem serious yet. Before you fine and mess with it make sure to document it good that away the dealer can't be like we'll you messed with it so we can't warranty it.
