Cracked header question.

When doing my exhaust we found the passenger side header had a crack about a inch long.
Now my question is. Would yall weld it up and reinstall the header or buy a new set?

They are pacesetter longtubes, and if we weld them up I will clean them up good and either paint them with high heat and maybe wrap them.

If I do buy a new set are the headmans any better or worse than the pacesetters?

how old are they? have you checked about a warranty on them? how big is the crack?

Personally, I wouldn't do it. However, if you want to give it a shot, drill a hole in the end of the crack and then weld it up. Don't waste your time with high temp paint. It doesn't matter how much you spend on it they all burn and flake off in a day or so.

They are pretty old. I dont believe I have any sort of warranty at this point

Warping accelerates corrosion. I have my motorcycle exhaust wrapped and they are not going to last much longer. I would do as George suggested if that is the only problem. If I remember right Pacesetter are 16ga and Hedman was using 18ga. Headers do not last forever.

I found a crack in mine awile back, pretty small about a 1/4 " long I just sanded off the coating and welded it up. and sprayed some silver ceramic VHT on it.
