1st time posting so i hope im on the correct thread.
I have an 06 1500 5.7 hemi 4x4 (extended cab)
220,000 miles.
She has always had a slow turn over which i thought was due to the battery have low cold cranking amps.
It was 110 degress the other day and she wouldnt turn over after about an hour drive. I figured it was the battery but she still wouldnt go with a jump. It was almost like a security issue i had once with the key; So i replaced the battery and the key battery as well. She started up! ( but still with the rrrr rrrr rrrr slow start like before)
Fast forward 2 days later and im on the hwy....another hot day....the engine dies, full power and no mechanical function!
After some basic trouble shooting i narrowed it down to the tipm and the fuel pump. I took off the tipm and looked underneath..clueless what to look for i dusted it off and re attached it. I tried listening for the pump when i turn the key but im partially deaf so i cant hear if the pump is priming or not. Outta frustration i whap the fuel tank and damn it she started right up. Just to have the same thing happen again 2 days later. Im going to replace fuel pump, but i need to be certain before doing all that work. Is there a way to rule out an issue with the tipm ? Am i missing anything? All input is needed and welcomed.
