I finally had time to actually see what the temps were tonight within my new 5.7L.

After about 20 min of highway driving. These were my temps!
Can you please share yours so I can kind of compare. Temp outside was 88*F.

Thanks Syn

Coolant-------->203*F
Trans---------->185*F
Oil------------->208*F

This is my first auto that I actually had actual visual temps of the transmission and oil.
I really never knew OIL got over 200*F. More reason for me to stick with a synthetic.

My coolant stays right at 190 to 192, but I have the 6.7 CTD.

My coolant stays at 190-195 unless I drop to 4th and run it up a bit. Then it jumps to 200-205 but will drop back to 190-195 as soon as I stop running it hard.

My coolant runs about 185. And my trans runs about 135-150.

As always: I'm worried about nothing. Doing some looking found this.

Ideal Temp for Motor Oil at normal operating temp should be a few degrees above coolant temp.

200*F-220*F is ideal. Oil needs to be at least 220*F to burn off any deposits and water vapor.

Normal Conventional oil can handle up too 250*F. Starts to break down at 275*F
Most Full Synthetics can handle temps way over 300*F.

M1 has proven to handle temps up close to 500*F.

I use M1 so I guess Oil Temps is really the last of my worries.

Thanks for all the replies so far! Please keep them coming the more the better.

My truck is all stock with no programmer so my temps might be off from others who have modded 5.7L.

I run a 180 T-stat

Coolant temps would ever around 180 to 185 but I noticed today they would shoot up to 190-195. These past couple days we finally have been getting in our hot temps

Trans the same scenario. I never seen it go over 160, but today it hit 175

Oil temp stayed around 200*

Now these were mostly all idle and street driving. Haven't been on the highway in a while.

I wanna know what the trans max temp level is. I'm used to 200+ in my GTP which is normal but these ram trans stay cool.
