Maybe I am a dreamer, but I was wondering if it was possible to custom make an intake much like the dual intake made by Spectre. I noticed the throttle body positioning and how much space was on each side of the block. The only thing that gets me is the angle at which the TB sits. Is this just a pipe dream, or is something like this actually possible?

You could make it, but honestly its gonna hurt performance. The filters are gonna get heat soaked sitting overtop the heads and exhaust and instead of you pulling in cooler air its gonna pull in hot air. If there was a cheap way of blocking them off from the top of the motor like a plate system of sorts then maybe worth a shot. I will say though that setup your talking about does look cool when you pop the hood.

I was thinking of making it long enough to go close enough to the back of each headlight, as to not get all that heat getting in. And I am still trying to work out exactly how I want it to all work out. I just wanted to know if it was possible. Thanks for your reply.

I'm always interested in custom fabrications. There are some custom manifolds that pop up on the various forums occasionally. Cool stuff..

I have yet to see anything on manifolds. Maybe I am not looking in the right places. Also I have been following your truck lowering thread. Very inspiring stuff.

If you are referring to Red, than thanks. But the drop is all Mcgaughy pieces just bolted in and massaged to fit properly. The 4.7 frt springs which are the same as the 5.7 are trimmed and the Timbren springs (bumps) I experimented a little to keep them light and simple. Just pick your mods and becareful installing them and usually there is no problems with them. The 4.7 PCM using a cable driven TB opens the door to use a variety of GM/ford TB's of various sizes. These can be found relatively cheap on eBay. With a stand alone trans the PCM gets very straight forward leading to some very interesting mods. I think I'll end up with a 4.7 PCM before I'm finished with my Megasquirt install on Red. Good luck...

Thanks. I am definitely going to need it. I feel as though I am trying to bite off way more than I can chew.
