I've got a friend who is fairly experienced in the car audio world, him and I were going to tackle making a sub box for my 2012 Big Horn Quad Cab, out of fiberglass.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of ways we could make a mold of the compartment under the back seat, so that I don't stink up the cab of the truck, and lose the "new car" smell. Then we could take the mold and fiberglass it.

Any ideas would be great!

hmm, never seen someone make a mold. most guys just tape it off. When I did mine, i had all the doors open and had a fan right next to me blowing the smell out. The smell went away after about 2 days driving with the windows down. I dont know if it would take away the new car smell, but if it helps mine still smells the way it did before...

I take it you are trying to make an all fiber glass box. I guessing the cheapest way would be to make a card board cutout of the space, brace it, cover with plastic then go over it with fiber glass.

Yes, I am, but I think I'm just gunna buy a Fox acoustics box. its tried and true, my custom box skills, by doing it the way I hope to, Is probably the hardest, so my best bet is pay for one that's done.

I came to that conclusion myself as well when I saw all the tight fitting and curves on my backseat (2nd gen)

I just got my FoxBox installed. Had to unbolt the back seat for the spacers, but the sound is well worth it. I bought the alpine recommended subs and it sounds amazing.
