I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD, and I'm attempting to replace the CV axles, lower ball joints and tie rods on the vehicle, but upon attempting to remove the passenger side CV axle, it's pulling the intermediate shaft out instead of just the axle cup pulling off the intermediate shaft. Any way to get the axle cup off the intermediate shaft without replacing the intermediate shaft?

Heat the living hell out of it and try a air hammer if not your going to need to change the shaft and clips.

Is it safe to apply that much heat onto a part that'll be going directly into the diff?

I was able to get the CV axle cup and stub shaft together out of the diff, squeezed passed the bump stop just barely after I took some bolts out of the differential and lowered it a bit, then unbolted the shock. So now that it's out of the truck, what's the best way to get the two apart? Heat? Sawzall? Stick it in a vise and try and hammer the shaft out?
