Any ideas on why my 2020 BigHorn with 16000 miles would need a new CV joint, axle and boot? It's a 4x4 but it's never been offroad mainly only use it to pull my boat up the ramp. Just had to spend 500 bucks on repair. Research says these things should last at least 80K miles.

The warranty ran out last month. It does have a 2 inch level. Do I need to remove that? Original owner had it installed by dealership when purchased new. Or at least that's what I was told.

If you look at the cv joint/axle, is it at a bad angle? Ideally it should be pretty straight from the hub to the transfer case.

2" is usually ok, but it might cause accelerated wear on some items. 2" is the highest lift mopar will allow and cover the warranty, so it is possible.

It's at the shop right now but when I was inspecting it yesterday after noticing grease all over the place I think there was somewhat of an angle. I'm pretty sure it wasn't straight. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Post a pic of the angles. What level kit? Is it spacers or adjustable struts?

Angle correcting UCA's would flatten out the angles for a 2" level. Message me if you would like a quote on a set of them.

The other thing to look for, is to look at the inner CV (if that is the boot that let go) and see if the rollers on the CV are almost coming out of the housing or still in the housing - you really shouldn't see a bulge in the boot from the roller (ie. out of travel in the housing).

If the outer CV boot let go, that's usually from a stick/stone/something rubbing on the boot or something similar - though they can dry rot and get cracks in and fail but usually not in that short of an amount of time.

Here's a pic of the repair. Is this angle enough to cause problems. Found out it's a 2inch motofab level.

Doesn't look that extreme, but any lift will generally wear some parts quicker than if left stock.

Which boot was torn - inner or outer?

Outer boot. And that angle is a little off from the angle of the camera. I looked at it again once I was home on a flat surface and it's actually less of an angle than it appears in the picture. Must have just been a bad boot or something hit it. Buddy told me that sometimes the boot can come loose by turning the wheels too sharp in 4-wheel drive. Ever heard of that? Because I did that last week maneuvering my trailer at the landing. Who knows! It's fixed now and I'll keep an eye on the other one. I was worried that the level might have had something to do with it. I've had a level kit on every truck I've ever owned (and I've had a dozen, of every type) and never had an issue. And BTW, this 1500 is the best truck I've had yet. I love it. Never thought I would own a full-size truck with a V6 but don't really notice the difference. I am getting old and don't dog it like I used to though. lol

See all that grease all over your inner fender. That was your first clue something was wrong. Clean it off the inside of the inner fender with degreaser so it looks bare and clean again. Look there every so often for grease, if you see some bend down and check you joints.
