Hello, I have a 2010 Ram 1500 ST, and recently purchased a written off 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie as a parts truck. I'm basically taking the entire interior from the Laramie and moving it to my ST. My only question that I have left is, I'm taking the entire dash out of the Laramie to swap with my ST and I was wondering if the dash cluster would be compatible when I swap them and if all of my ST's vehicle information (milage, engine hours, etc.) Will be retained or if I'll have to keep my ST's dash cluster.

Thank you in advance for any help.

The cluster is compatible but mileage won't transfer over. Mileage is stored in the cluster and pcm/ecu

So if I take the entire dash and cluster from the Laramie and put it in my ST, it will keep the mileage from the ST because it will use the mileage from the trucks PCU/ECU to update the new dash cluster installed into the truck?

No. The mileage is stored in at least 2 areas. Cluster being 1. The other, possibly the pcm/ecu, doesn't communicate mileage with the cluster. Kinda a failsafe so dealers can verify mileage if they wanted. So by installing the cluster out of your donor truck, the cluster will remain what it was. You'd have to find a 3rd party that can change mileage on early 4th gens or check the 06-12 alfaobd thread and see if changing mileage can be done with alfaobd in that year range yet

Correct 1500ram12.

The rub is if the new cluster hows low miles really you might not care It's your truck. But if you put a OBDII code reader on it and pull the mileage it will show the actual miles. That is quite a tripping hazard if you decide to sell the truck. Mismatch mileage is fraudulent.
Likely if you sold to an individual you could disclose the actual mileage and tell them you upgraded the cluster to the premium one. An individual would probably be OK with that. But a dealer? Not so much.

I (over) paid a shop in Calgary to update the mileage and hours when I did my first swap.
For the swaps after I've been able to do it myself using the AlphaODB software and an ODB adapted. If you use AlphaODB one thing to keep in mind is that the value needs to be entered in miles, so if your target was 12345KM you'd enter 7670mi in AlphaODB.
