For you guys considering doing a fluid swap on your 8 speed transmission, the dealer pricing on the gold plated ZF transmission fluid has taken a noticeable drop in price lately. It's been close to 2 years since I did my last tranny service, and I was rather pleased yesterday to discover the dealer price on the fluid is roughly 20 bucks (Canadian) less then it was the last time I bought the fluid.
I would assume this also will be the case with the dealers south of the border.
FCA has dropped the price down into the AB category lately.Might have something to do with the fact there's more aftermarket oil suppliers offering the fluid now,and FCA doesn't have a lock on the ZF tranny fluid market anymore.

Good call, please share the best value per quart as I’m planning to swap pans.

I see $25/qt on eBay for Mopar branded.

Good to know. It would be nice if the price continued to drop and stayed there.

I know it's like running with scissors, but once I get to around 60K miles on my 2017, I may use Valvoline Maxlife ATF for a fluid and pan change. I'm at ~52K now.

I know I'm a broken record on here, but those who deal with these transmissions (tuners and builders) are recommending Mopar fluid. They are seeing more and more cases of trans slip with aftermarket fluid. If pricing is becoming more reasonable, for this once or twice in a lifetime service, it is probably worth going Mopar. I'm running redline and have a low rpm slip from time to time. No other issues. I will be swapping back to Mopar fluid (maybe sooner now with dropped pricing and you can usually find a 10 percent off coupon). I will def report back with any info once it's done.

100 percent agree with inserting what is suggested on the Rolls-Royce of transmissions. The price of fluid to stay on lifetime R&D spec is not something I'd toy with unless ZF certified another brand/option. The transfer-case/diffs/engine lube are all personal preference.

My service will be dropping the pan to replace pan/filter and topping back the lost fluid at 100K miles(unless something is unusual). Everyone has opinions on the "lifetime fill", but for my driving style and usage that's how it will be...
