I need a dealer reflash to make my superchips work on my 2003 ram. Where I live (Belgium) dodge dealers are few and far between. Luckily Fiat dealers are everywhere, since Dodge is owned by Fiat now they are equipped to do maintenance on Dodges.

I am now worried that the mechanic doesn't really know what he is doin and might not use the correct equipment and such so any and all information about a 'dealer reflash' is very welcome.

I understood that the 'starscan' chrysler tool is able to do this reflash, are there other tools wich can do this operation? Anything else I should be concerned about. If my pcm is ruined I'm f$^ked since it will take a while to get a new one and my truck is my daily driver.

Again any and all information about the reflash is very welcome!!

Thanks.

Starscan isn't compatible with PCI bus, does they have a DRBIII? Unless the new Witech setup has been made compatible with the old PCI bus setup...?

Back from the dealer and no succes, he had a Laptop based DRBIII setup not a standalone unit (don't know if that makes a difference), he could read the pcm, reset the codes and stuff like that but could not find the option to do a 'reflash'.

I had a fault code due to one of the O2 sensors had messed up wires, could this fault code be the reason for teh DRBIII system not being able to reflash the pcm? There is a problem with the wiring in the O2 sensor (melted together) wich causes the code to pop up as soon as you turn the key on.

Is there anyone on here with actual experience with this system, who has some time on his hands to explain how it is possible that the DRBIII setup could not reflash my pcm? Or is the 'reflash' option buried somewhere in all the menu's on the DRBIII system and did we miss it?

I have read something on the forums where you have to short the battery system wich makes ths pcm do a hard reset or something, anyone have any experience with this?

An error based on an O2 sensor should have nothing to do with reflashing the PCM itself. A messed up O2 would only pop out a CEL and maybe make your truck run like ****.

It looks to me that the dealer had the basic scan hardware but not all the 'add ons' to do the reflash. Dodge isn't even being sold anymore over here in Belgium so I'm guessing no one will have the correct software. On top of that when you phone a workshop and ask can you reset a 2003 Ram computer they say 'sure no problem' and when you get there it turns out they can't. Don't wanna drive all over the country (however small Belgium is :) ) to every Dodge workshop for nothing.

I have read somewhere that the 2003 computer is not connected to a VIN number, couldn't I just get a brand new computer and be done with it? If so what would be the best source for this? Anyone have a 2003 dodge computer for sale?

You might try a Jeep dealer as they sell the Grand Cherokee and other Jeeps in Europe too. They might have the correct equipment to flash your PCM

Good luck!

I haven't done my swap yet or I'd sell you mine (sucks when its your daily driver and you're gone every other month to two months).
