Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to delete / disable rear park assist on a 2015 1500 Sport? I know I can press the button, but the warnings on the dash are annoying and I'd just rather not have park assist at all.

Thanks!

Yeah you can disable compeltely in the 8.4 radio. If not i believe it will be in your setup menu on the gauge cluster screen.

I'll double check tonight and see if I can find it.

What is someone *really* does not like them and wants to remove the hardware all together? Can they be disabled in the features of the truck somehow as if they were never there?

The dealer can code it off, or if you are local to a savy guy with the AE tool perhaps they can delete it for you as well.

I'm not, but would consider buying the tool if I knew it could be done ... would help me decide between AE tool / Genie for heated seats mod as well ;)

id pm deereguy he has a lot of time in the system. If it will do sensors and I suspect it will, then the AE tool is a no brainer.

Nope..even if you turn the park sense off, there is nothing I found on the radio to stop the yellow "park sense disabled" warning when you put the truck in reverse.
In the radio, you have options to for just the sound warning or sound with graphical display for the park sense.8bbaa094b993a73a29dcd74cc089d079.jpg

I've noticed the same thing. You might as well leave them on with audio low. At least you get relative peace and quiet that way for the times the park sensors aren't in need of service.

I wouldn’t mess with the Parksense settings with AE. When I tried to turn my front parksense on, it removed the backup cam button from the radio and replaced it with a power fold headrest button lol. I could never get it to go away until my truck was reflashed.

The parksense module is behind the driver kick panel. I don’t know if you unplug it if it will bubble up a MIL or not. You could always ask you dealer if they can remove the sales code from your truck. I’m not sure if they can remove factory codes.

This x10. OP is going to run over a little kid.

Anyways, you could try unplugging the sensors?

Mine don't work most of the year and require sensor replacement annually. I've driven trucks for years without them and without running into things. I know people like them so I wouldn't remove them, but for me I'd rather they were programmed out for as long as I own the truck and then I'd re activate and repair them when I go to sell it. Then I wouldn't have that chime always going off saying service park sensors or the chime saying park assist disabled every time it's in reverse.

This.

I also have a backup camera which is x10 more useful (IMO) than the sensors.

At least with the camera I can see the kid's face before I run him over ... joking of course.

Your truck, but for the life of me I can't think of a reason you'd want to disable/remove this feature.

I wonder if it all depends on which version of the Rear ParkAssist system your truck has. I have it on my 2010, but I've found it doesn't make a peep until you've nearly hit whatever it is behind you. In other words, I find that I stop reversing my truck well in advance of when the ParkAssist system will engage so I never hear anything out of it. But, perhaps the whole point of that system is to be less of an every-day assist and more of an "oh shoot" alarm for those moments when you may not be paying attention.

After I got my truck, I tested the ParkAssist by slowly backing toward a wall. I was inching towards the wall maybe five-six inches back at a time, going super slow. It kicked in with the alarm waaaaaaay past when I thought it would, to the point where I thought the system wasn't working. All-in-all, it seems like if you were backing up even at 2-3MPH, I have a hard time believing you'd be able to avoid hitting whatever it is by the time the system goes off initially. Not a complaint, just an observation. Obviously, as the driver of any motor vehicle, it *your* responsibility to operate the vehicle safely... not the machine's haha.
