I have a 2012 Ram 1500 and used Diablo Sport to install an 87 octane tune and turned off MDS. Anyone know what would happen if I put in a 91 Octane tune, but stayed with 87/89 octane. Thanks

Probably Nothing as Diablo canned tunes dont even do much anyways.

The only time you should run 91 is if you have a custom tune that requires it.

Stick with what the Tune says to use.

I have both tunes on mine, I use 93 octane when I use the 91 tune and 87 or 89 on the 87 tune. Don't have a reason to try 87 on the 91 tune so I don't know. Sorry

I went on a weekend trip this past weekend and decided to set my Diablo tuner to the the Eco tune to see if it does anything for fuel mileage. I normally leave it on the 87 tune from Hemiferver Tune and have been very happy with that. I averaged 18.1 hand calculated to 18.5 on the EVIC on the Hemifever 87 octane tune. This trip was a total of 760 miles, 305 miles from my home to the beginning of Skyline Drive in Front Royal Va. Then rode a total of 280 miles of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. From where we got off of the Blue Ridge Parkway back to our home was 170 miles. The 305 and 170 miles was mostly interstate at 70 MPH, (I am very happy with 70 MPH after the long years of 55 MPH!) Otherwise the Parkway was 35 to 45 MPH. I averaged 19.6 MPG according to the EVIC and 19.1 MPG hand calculated. The eco tune made my MDS work again which I stood all I could of that before I cancelled that out with the manual shift. Those that say they can't hear or feel MDS I don't understand but I don't care for it at all so I may have ran a total of 20 miles with it on. I have nothing to gain or lose with telling any false information on this. For me it shows that I loose about 1/2 MPG by using the 87 tune from Hemifever Tune so that's what I will leave it on because the difference in the character of the truck "feels" so much better and more fun to drive to where I'm willing to "sacrifice" 1/2 MPG. I only did this hoping it may give anyone thinking about a tuner something to use in their decision. Just in case it will help, my truck is a 2012 RCSB with the 5.7 Hemi with the Vararam CIA, (No other mods but the Diablo Tuner) 6 speed automatic and 4.10 rear gears and the factory 20 in. Goodyear tires. Let me add that I was doing everything possible to get the best MPG I could the whole time.
