Vehicle: Crew cab, 4wd, Hemi, 8spd, 3.21 gears. Basically stock and going to stay that way. Has a drop in K&N and Magnaflow exhaust.

I've been watching and reading about the Hemifever tunes and haven't gotten much feedback about how worth it it is to spend nearly $500 to get an I2 with Hemifever on the truck.

I also realize it is all subjective and hard to get across what the tuner will actually do. Does anyone have any hard numbers on a similar setup truck? Before and after 0-60 maybe? Quarter mile times?

I'm trying to justify the cost but that is a decent chunk of change.

I had a 13 Ram CC 4x4 with 3.92 gears and a 6 speed. I had an aftermarket muffler, and Moe's throttle body, a vararam and a 180 stat. and then purchased a Diablo with the Hemifever custom tuning. I can tell you there was a very noticeable difference in the performance of the truck. The tuner just kinda blended all the other mod's together. I never raced the quarter mile so I don't have any times-before and/or after installation. I definitely felt that it was money well spent regarding the increase in performance. Later I also added an Edge 2800 tq conv. which was one of the best mod's I installed regarding acceleration. My advice----get the tuner, I think you'll be very satisfied especially with your other mod's.

F it, can't sit around debating it. Just ordered from Moe's so I can see for myself. The difficult decision was whether I wanted to order a throttle body at the same time.

Figured I'd wait, one mod at a time, and see how they feel. Plus it looks that with Hemifever tuning they will change the custom tune for me at a later date when I add the throttle body.

You'll get a LOT more for your money with the programmer and custom tune vs. the throttle body.

IMHO, a throttle body is a bit of overkill for the stock engine as it's designed to flow the amount of air a stock engine requires. It's not necessarily how much more air gets in as how well it flows into the intake manifold.

I have been debating the same thing. I have a 14 with intake and exhaust. I'm just not very computer savvy so data logging and emailing tunes back and forth sounds pretty complicated to me.

Either Hemifever or some of the members on here can walk you through the process.

I have the 8sp wth 3.21s a diablo trinity turner with hemifever program. I am not stock anymore but I notice a difference when the program is in compared to stock. When I had 35s on my truck without the programmer I would run 0-60 I. About 7 plus seconds with the program in I would run about 6.4 so is there a difference yes. I bought mine mainly to fix my tire size/speedo issue the plus was the program.

I just haven't felt the difference with mine. I have a Vararam on its way, so I will get that in and go from the 89 to 93 HF tune, hopefully I will notice that lol.

Hey TwistedJake
Same truck/ year as you.

I had my local indie exhaust shop give me true dual into one muffler and two out. 400.00
From Hemifever I bought a IT2/ custom tune package ( didn't need a trinity for what my goals/ end state is), and a 180 tstat
Vararam intake.

Ported TB

I left the clutch fan on as I tow and don't want to worry about overheating.

I didn't run the track with the canned tune. I can tell you the improvement from the canned tune to the CMR tune was very noticeable. probably as much of a change as from stock to the canned...

I didn't run the truck stock maybe someone else can chime in with what they run stock

I ran a couple 13.96/98 @ 98 MPH Da was fair for the east coast, +400
I took al the crap out of the cabin, dropped the tailgate and spare had 1/4 tank

Ran 14.2 with 3/4 tank spare and tailgate junk in cabin.

I have another revision I got from Hemifever to run, I expect to run a 13.8 @100 mph this spring, maybe better with mineshaft air.

Gas mileage is Oh IDC, well its 22-24 on highway trips and 15-17 back and forth to work.

I've tuned other cars with other tuners.

Hemifever is by far the best in customer service I have dealt with, his tutorials are easy to follow and his turnaround is very fast. He has sent me a couple nice revisions out of the blue.

I'm very happy with the tune, drivability, power, etc. everything he provided.

I'm sure you will be happy as well.

Have you towed with the tune yet?

Thanks everyone for the input. I actually ordered the tuner with hemifever tune. I received the tuner today, it's sitting on my desk, and have an email into Moe's to see if I'm missing the instructions to get the Hemifever tune going.

I was emailed by Sean Before I even got the tuner from Moe's! I installed my HF tune today and it did a nice job of waking up my truck. No regrets!

Yeah, for whatever reason I never got the email. Moe's is working on it for me no problem.

I installed the DS canned 91 tune. Can't say I notice anything but also didn't expect to. Can't wait for Sean's tune.

Yes
largest/heaviest/longest tow so far was from Annapolis, md to the "tail of the dragon in ten/ N. Carolina. Towed a 14 ft enclosed trailer with two big Harleys, 500 lbs. of luggage and tools etc. ( don't go there I drove my springer Softail to Sturgis)

Its a towing machine! other than on the long upslopes on the highway It seemed like the trailer wasn't even there.

temps never went above 220, I was running 80 mph for 4 hours at a time. cruise control on, a/c on as it was 80 + .
since then I replaced the tstat as I had installed an old one I had from my car. yeah I know. anyway the temps since then are much more stable and lower.

11 mpg.

Don't you have to data log and send it in before the custom tune is made?

11mpg towing. That's 2 more than I get now. That'll pay for itself.

not per say
You have to marry the tuner to the truck and send a copy of the factory pcm tune.

Not as hard as it sounds

then he sends you a CMR tune, you load that then you datalog and sent the log back.
If changes are needed, he will send you another tune repeat until running like a scalded dog.

to much work for this guy and being a 15 the cost is way to high for the extra hp I would receive.
