Did a search, read the articles, still confused!

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Express Quad cab, with the most basic radio Dodge offers. No amplified alpine system, no uconnect 8, just a stereo without a cd player.

I just want to put a single din cd player in that I already have. What do I need beside the dash kit (Metra 99-6518B), antenna harness (Metra 40-EU55)? I have been given 2 different items as far as the wire harness goes. Metra 71-6523 and a full interface of XSVI-6523-NAV.

I'm not adding a navigation, just a cd player, an aux out and a sub in the back.

Please please please tell me what exactly I need. Thanks in advance.

If it was me I would get on crutchfield.com and go through it. Pick out a random radio and it will have you input car information and it will tell you what you need. Variations in wiring harnesses are usually because of hands free stuff and steering wheel controls and things you don't have anyway. Might help you though.

watched a youtube vid that used the 6523. go to axxess.com or soniceletronix.com and see what they say. the video was for a 13 1500

I'm 99.9% sure I need the 6523, and I'm just not gonna pay the $60 or so for it. I'll stick with the stock stereo I suppose. Thanks for your help.

Metra 71-6523 is a replacement vehicle side harness if some hack-job shop cut it off.
The XSVI-6523-NAV is the wiring interface you would need to install an aftermarket CD player.

I have the factory CD player from my '13 2500 I'd be willing to part with if we could work out an exchange (I'd need the non-CD player part). PM me if interested.

I would consider it, but it's a lease and I don't want to do anything that can't be reversed, including changing the radio with one that it wasn't built with. And I don't want them to actually have more than they sold me.

Just went through this as I will be installing my audio gear next weekend. This is what you will need:

Dash Kit (For Single DIN): Metra 99-6518B
Antenna Harness: Metra 40-EU55
Wiring Harness: XSVI-6523-NAV
Sirius XM Tuner (Newer Radios): SiriusXM SXV200V1

Remember if you have SiriusXM and you want to retain it, you need to get the XM tuner. Any other questions let us know...

Thanks for the response, but I've really decided to not change it at this point. Just don't want to spend the money on the interface.

Its not a hack job shop is owners of the vehicles that are trying to be cheap.

on my 12+ years as a pro installer i never once saw a shop cut it off. we would always use the metra 71 series harness to fix what the vehicles owners (owners buddies that thought they know what they were doing)did.

on a side note the problem with 99% of new vehicles is they are canbus controlled so they need these interfaces to make the radio work
