a few friends have recently bought 2015 ram crew cab trucks throughout the year and we noticed one friends had big differences. His is a 2015 with a manufacture date of late of late 2014, his Sat radio antenna is located just above the windshield on the drivers side and he had L-angled braces welded in the front corners of the box near the top and the rest of ours seem to have them too but welded in between the inner and outer box side. Where these changes throughout the model year or is it due to his only being an ST model?

I do not think it is a model change so much as where the truck was built in the USA or Mexico.

My observation is that all the Mexico built trucks have the antenna puck on the forward part of the cab and the USA built trucks have the antenna puck on the rear of the cab. One of the plants made a tooling change that the other has not.

If your friends have a crew cab with a forward position puck, I would bet it is a Mexico built 2500/3500 and the other crew cabs are USA built 1500 models.

I wish they built the 2500/3500 in the USA or Canada. Not a huge Mexico fan. But. It is what it is

Interesting. His is a 1500 with the 5.7

Wonder if that explains the visible extra support brackets in the forward part of the box

Find out your friends VIN number. If the first number is a "3", then it is built in Mexico, if a "1", then usa.

For the most part, the Mexico built trucks are the 2500/3500 models and regular cab 1500 models. I think they also build the 1500 quad/crew cabs models for the Mexican market also in Mexico.

I was looking at a truck at the dealer today (not sure if it was a 15 or a 16) but it was a less expensive model and it had the L brackets in the bed. My 2014 Sport, manufacture date 9/14, doesn't have them. My truck was assembled in Michigan and has the shark fin antenna on the driver's side rear of the cab.

I remember looking into this, but I'll be damned if I can remember what I found. It was all over the map.

I got a '15 crew SXT (ST with chrome); birthdate of 05/15. Made in Mexico and the puck is in the front driver side.

I think it was (key word is think); the upper end 1500's are made in the USA and the lower end trim 1500's, 2500 and 3500's are made in Mexico. But when things start backing up in the US, Mexico picks up the pace and starts making upper trim levels to keep up with demand.

Again, that's what I think i remember, but I could be wrong (that's nothing new either)

Not sure where the line is drawn but my 14 express QC 1500 was final assembly Michigan from mexico parts. My 15 2500 is all mexico. Can't say there's a noticeable difference in "quality". I'm guessing it's pretty much a push. I know there was a vacuum line on my 1500 that was just dangling loose I eventually found and had to snap / lock back in place. it was preventing me from filling the truck without holding filler nozzle away from the truck. probably a Friday truck.
