My truck needs help. :help:

Are there any great detail shops in the DFW area? Someone that can really fix me up? My truck is kept in a garage everynight. I hand wash and dry. So I know the truck will look killer for a long time after I get it really clean, but I dont know where to go to get it right. It will definitely need some corrections. Chips, swirls, overall badness. Its black and Im a little OCD. Im talking more than just a simple wash and dry place. A real true polish/wax ect.. I would love to do it myself, but I just dont know how. At all. :bawl:

Suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

Well that's a bummer. Oh well.

Maybe a great idea for someone with experience, money, and time. Start up a biz.

Wow, I find it hard to believe in the DFW area there isn't anyone!
Try calling around to some high end custom shops (car stereo stuff etc)

Check autopia.org for the location of a detailer in the Metroplex. It is a professional detailer site.

Autopia is an amazing reference site for info, and contacts.
Back when I did mobile detailing I spent a lot of time on there. There are many talented detailers who may even be able to give you a reference if you ask, and give your whereabouts.
Black is the most beautiful color, for 5 minutes a week! Everyone should own one black vehicle in their life, and I've already had my turn LOL

There's a place called Detail Werkz in North Dallas.
They do "paint corrections"... I have heard it's kinda pricey, but they always turn out great

Don't live in your area, but once you get it to where you like it - you might want to check out these guys:

http://www.autogeek.net/
http://www.adamspolishes.com/

Incredibly knowledgeable folks that are very helpful and they carry a wide range of high end products - some of them specifically for black exteriors. A tremendous amount of functional info on their website as well.

One thing I learned quickly, the least amount of touching - the better. I'll use a super soft microfiber cloth to handwash, and then to dry I use a masterblaster. One of the best car care items I've ever purchased. No matter how you slice it though, black is a b tch to keep clean.

Results from the above:

One of the main contributors on autopia is in DFW (or he used to be on there a ton, I haven't myself been there in a while). He actually came to my house in Keller and charged me a fraction of what he normally does to show me how to polish myself (I bought a porter cable 7424 and several pro products at his suggestion before he arrived). I seriously can't recall his name or handle which sucks but he shouldn't be hard to find. He details lots of exotics and as most have mentioned, a proper detail with paint correction is not going to be cheap.

On the down side of this story, I'm now spent a ton on different products and have a massive cabinet holding them all so I can't really say I've saved money. The other negative is you'll end up with friends with neglected or scratched finishes who may ask you to give it a try to correct once you get good at it.

Did seem reasonable to me. But I would hope to learn as well. At least by watching the work.
