Display Controls Question

I've noticed that on my 2023 Laramie that I cannot go from music settings to comfort settings and then back again to music while moving. I get the message that I cannot do that while moving. That became more of an issue recently when I was going on a long trip and unless I pulled off the freeway to reset I had to wait five hours when I stopped for fuel. Only then was I able to change back to entertainment. I had only selected the comfort setting to be sure I was on the setting I wanted for the trip but had already begun my travel. The only way I could select another radio station was to use the manual knob.

Question is....Is this normal or something wrong with the controls? I can't for the life of me figure out why the Guv'ment would restrict me from setting my radio controls while driving. This also occurs on the Navigation selection but that makes more sense if I was driving and trying to type in an address.

So..does this happen to others?

isn't there an "X" on the screen to cancel the comfort settings after you make adjustments? The only thing i can't do while driving is enter an address if i'm using the uconnect nav...which is never.

I don't recall seeing an X but I did look for some kind of reset so there might be one. If there is I know I would have tried that. This has happened a few times and when my wife was in the truck she tried to change the screen but was unable to. So I believe it somehow locks the driver out or I have a programming problem.

I have no problems repeatedly switching between the comfort and radio settings while driving with my '21 Warlock with an 8.4" 4C Uconnect.

Do you have any manual comfort controls that could be used instead?

On the 12" there are blower speeds and A/C on or off, temp settings but nothing to select dash vent settings. Defrost took me awhile to find since it activates with the rear window defrost and maybe the mirrors. I'm not standing next to it at the moment but I had to ask a friend with one how he activated the front window defrost. Did finally sort it out in the manual but it's counterintuitive. At least to me. He has a lower level system so I did not ask him about the comfort/entertainment issue. Might not be the same and his is a 2021.

Not the rear window defrost. It was the heated mirrors I was trying to find. Just looked at the truck and saw I was wrong about that. The rear window Defrost activates the mirrors. I also have an auto button. Jeeez...this used to be so easy. And without taking my eyes off the road.

Now I understand.

I have temp up/down, AC, and defrost front or defrost rear for manual controls, but no dash vent switches. It's annoying that we have to monkey around inside the Uconnect settings for that.

I'm sure I was tweaking those settings via the Uconnect one day recently, while driving.
Like you, I wanted dash vents on for comfort but not AC.
I'll check that again on my next outing.

You can do that without the A/C button on but don't adjust while driving if you are listening to something and expect to go back. Mine shows various vent settings and that works while driving. I edited my post above because I made a mistake on the controls. Second mistake today. Two down and several to go.

On my 2019 5th Gen, 8.4 Uconnect 4 plain jane radio, I can adjust anything while driving and go back/forth. What I hate is the media hub ref music on USB, not friendly. I can even while driving down the road 60 mph, hit control screen and activate rear camera, which will stay on/displayed in the screen for 10 seconds before shutting off.

usually the control icon is at the bottom of the screen..it says "comfort". if it's not there, there's a way to put any icon you want at the bottom. i forgot how to do it.

I think Stellantis added a few extra features with the '22 & '23 model years.

Extra nannies and extra horn notifications. Maybe, they included this one-way process too.

I'm thinking you have a software issue that needs addressed. Unless there is some kind of safety setting turned on. My dad has a 24 3500 with the 12" screen and he can flip back and forth through whatever settings while driving.
