Which Radio Harness did you unplug? the one that connects to the radio or a different one?

Yea I unplugged the harness from the radio that connects to the main harness. My Mopar manual said the way to connect the supplied radio harness to the existing harness was to depin the 3 existing wires and connect the 3 new ones. I checked voltage on the old wires against the new one and they were roughly the same. Now I can't even get the radio to come on???

I know exactly what you did. There WILL NOT be any wires in the camera pin holes before you wire the camera. You unplugged I believe power, air bag sense and can +. I did the same thing. Look on the back of the connector for the writing in the corners that tell you the numbers. Follow that to put them in the correct holes.

So are you talking about the original radio harness with the red face. The 3 wires should not have been de pinned and the new ones put in their place?

There should be no pins in the holes where the camera should go. You are looking at it the wrong way probably.

So u were right. Reconnected the original 3 and the radio works again. Put the new 3 into the what i beleive is the CORRECT spots and nothing. Still no camera. Just a blue screen... does anyone have a picture of where they connected them? The position I thought 31 &32(next to the number 30) had wires in them already so I went to the other side that was open and tried that

Yes I did. I had them add it and did an update on it also. They did that before the install. I then had the blue screen and "check your surroundings" on the screen before I ever started. Has anyone had any wires in the slots 31,32,33? It says to depopulate the existing and plug in the new ones?

This may be a dumb question also but does anyone have a way of not using the depopulate tool to depin this connector,

I would check the numbers on the back of the connector housing and make sure you're plugging into the right holes.

Just made 100% the wires are now in the correct spot. Although I did have to remove 2 wires that were in spot 31&32. Does anyone have access to a schematic for this? I'm running out of options really quick

take a picture of the wire side of the connector....if you had to remove two wires from 31+32 you still may have the wrong spots...there are two wires in both the 29+30 and 39+40 spots...pictures are worth a thousand words.

Wanted to buy a leftover body harness

Hello, I also posted this in another thread, I know some of you following may also be involved with that one as well, but I want to say thank you to everyone that contributes to these, the information available here is an amazing resource. I have read this thread from front to back, and I am going to be attempting this install.

But I Needs some help,
I have already installed the Camera, Handle and tailgate harness, as well had the XAC flash completed. I currently have the blue screen, and I know it is because I do not have the Factory Body harness. I acquired the Camera by buying is separately, thinking I could simply plug in play. It wasn't until I started doing my research that I found my body harness only has the 2 locking wires, not the full 8 wires. So, Now I have purchased the handle, and camera, but not the Kit # 82214240. So, I find myself needing the body wire harness.

My questions is, has anyone purchased Kit # 82214240, and been lucky enough to only need to use the Tailgate components. I need to buy someone's leftover Body Harness and Radio harness to complete my install, and I don't want to spend the money on the full kit since I already bought the camera and handle. I contacted my local dealer to attempt to buy the part separately, but the only number I have been able to find was provided from this tread, Part # 68209529AB, but this number is "no good" per the dealer. They said this part number is not available, I guess it ONLY comes in the kit...? I can buy the radio harness, Part # 6889122AB for only $6.50 from the dealer, but I can't seam to get the body harness.

Can anyone help!?!?

Thanks in advanced,
Justin

from my earlier post

This shows the 3 pins for the radio. Colors may be different because I used jeepguy's custom harness but the pins are the same.
( I can't post pics from Tapatalk for some reason)

Please note:
- The op of this thread passed away and you can no longer get the custom harness he made prior to these kits being available (there is still a lot of good info, pictures, and detail here).

From cptwing's thread. Click the link for this post if the pictures don't show up...
And for those that make it to the back of the radio connector, I rotated the image from the directions and hopefully will have a picture to add from 70chall440.

@cptwing, if its not too intrusive of me, have you considered modifying your thread title to avoid confusion with Jeepguy's DIY camera thread (which can't be modified)?
i.e. Installing the "Official OEM backup camera add-on kits" (82214240 & 82213752)

I was wondering the same thing.

I was able to pull up 70chall440's TechAuthority backup camera schematic from his vin posted earlier which shows the wiring at radio pins 31,32,33 coming from the CHMSL cargo cam (center high mount stop light/3rd brake Lt).

@70chall440,
You don't have a Cargo Camera Option do you?
** Note, the 2500's likely have the 3 pins in place for the cargo cam **

If not that is why those pins get insulated and tapped out of the way. ( I think they can actually be moved to another video input pin set with a Customtronix RAX jailbreak (maybe pins 24,25 & ??) but I would have to dig through Jeepguy's Adding CHMSL camera thread to locate the correct pins for all 3 camera options:

Backup Cam: 31, 32, 33
CHMSL Cam: 21, 22, 23
Front Cam: . . 24, 25, 26

You can get the tech authority site at ...

If you want to save it as a PDF for easier viewing/reference/sharing use the print button, choose landscape and single page. I was gonna upload it but its larger than forum allows and my laptop battery quit on me in mid upload to media fire.

well I figured mine out. Sure enough the wires were STILL in the wrong spot. So got that fixed, and I have video! however, I dont have the gridlines. Guess i'm going to look over the BCM again to make sure I tapped into the correct wires. The option is selected but nothing overlays the video at all...?
