Had a low beam out... went to replace it and found this... Don't think I've had halogen! I bought the truck used and thought I might have had HID's... I think I'm right. Problem is, I don't know where to go from here. Any help would greatly appreciated. :favorites13:

That looks like a DDM Tuning HID kit

Thanks so far guys... appreciated. Sorry for my ignorance here... just trying to learn as I go. I'm assuming the bulb will be cheaper than ballast. Is it something that needs to be ordered or can I find it locally? (long island) how can I tell if I'm running 35 or 55? Stoked I have HID but scrambling to get this done. Also, while I'm at it, should I change high beam bulb? Cheers !

All DDM Tuning stuff comes from China, with a 2 week+ lead time. Try looking for any numbers on the ballast or bulb to figure out which kit you have. Also swap bulbs from left to right to rule out a bad ballast.

Only way to know if it is 35 or 55 watt is to locate the ballast, should mention the wattage on it. IMO i would just order a completely new set and install them in both headlights.

No real advantage going to 55 unless you want to swap out both ballasts at this point.

Did you swap the bulb over to the other side to check to see if it's the bulb or ballast?

There are literally hundreds of sources that can ship you either a bulb or ballast within a few days so no need to wait on DDM if it takes them that long to deliver.

Oh, if it's the bulb, I'd just replace both of them so they are the same "color" and to avoid having to change out a second bulb shortly after replacing the first one.

Multiple options...

Amazon: cheap temporary bulb for $10- few days to receive.

Retroshop: reliable bulb $40- few days to receive.

Thanks gentleman! After putting everything back together and on, both lights now work. Go figure! Probably going to order some bulbs just in case but obviously the ballast are ok. Thanks again for all the help everyone. :favorites13:

With the proper setup, it's not common but when a ballast fails to fire, it may not reignite , giving you that message. But at next start up the ballast fires right and everything's back to normal.

Glad it worked out for you :) I'm sure there's a lot of people on here that wishes everything was all set up for them when they bought their truck LOL

In case of any future issue, what I like to do is try a different ballast on the bulb. If the light fires up than you'll know it's a ballast issue. If it doesn't fire up than it's either a bad bulb, or something is wrong with the harness. In that case try the bulb on the side that works. If it does fire up than it's a harness issue, if it doesn't than it's a bulb issue.

There's a lot of troubleshooting involved lol

I've never had a bulb burn out. Swapping bulb to the other side should confirm the problem. Make sure you get the right size bulb base. Be careful with the ballasts, super high voltage. Don't mess with them with power on.
