It's binding (and binding is hard on your T-case). If you are feeling that the roads aren't bad enough to have it in 4wd. I have the same transfer case and I have used 4wd only few times off road and had zero issues binding.

And keep in mind that if you are desiring to have your diffs fully locked with a Detroit type locker; unless you are plowing snow or trying to get unstuck from an icy or snowy ditch, a Detroit type locker is not a good idea for daily driving in snowy or icy conditions. LSD is much better. What a lot of people also don't understand about 4wd is that it may help you start and drive better in the snow and ice but does very little to help stop any faster in these same conditions than 2wd does. Inexperienced drivers with 4x4 tend to get themselves in trouble with over confidence in their 4wd systems.

Thats me all the way :peace::peace::peace: (Not the trouble part though) :p

Thanks for the info, um so when in 4WD all 4 of my tires spin at the exact same speed?

Also, I'm starting to realize I don't need to turn 4WD on in small snow. But we just for 6" today and the roads are really cold n there will be ice. Is this a good time for the 4WD? Just in the small unplowed locations

And at very worst, what can be damaged if my stuff grinds when turning tomuch?

really i only use 4wd if i can feel my rears slipping but generally as long as there's something between your tires and the pavement it should be fine

you won't usually break something something right away but over time it'll cause damage and it's usually the transfer case that goes first. not sure what the case is worth on these trucks but it won't be cheap

Not quite, The transfer case sends 50% of power to front and 5o% to rear differentials. The diff's then send power to the wheel with the LEAST traction available (in reality it's only 2 wheel drive one front and one rear).A limited slip or locking diff (usually installed in the rear diff ) will send power to both wheels regardless.
That will upgrade you to 3 wheel drive anyway..
As far as damage when turning , there's usually a weak link in the system somewhere so it could blow out U-joints ,bend axle or drive shafts or cause problems in the transfer case.
I wouldn't worry to much though as long as you're not bashing on it all day on dry roads. If there's cause to slip or slide you can safely use 4WD.
Hope that helps :favorites13:
