I'm going through an issue with my dealer and Chrysler head office to get my 2014 Ram Sport repaired. My dealer sent my truck to the #1 rated body shop in the area I'm in, and I know there work and have to say the #1. The body shop told me that they would have to use a "SKIM OF FILLER" to fix my roof, yet the dealer told me the body shop would just pop it and it would be as good as new, well that's not the case as per the body shop. So I contacted Chrysler, cause at the cost of $46000.00 I DON'T expect filler in a brand new truck, so I told them to replace the cab or replace the truck...

Sorry for the jumping around...I'm pissed at this point...

If Chrysler goes with another truck, does that mean they buy it back and I have to go through the bank again to get approved again...
and I have read some people talking about paying $5000.00...

Should I have to be satisfied with having filler in a brand new truck....

If it was a fender...they would replace it
If it was a door.....they would replace it
If it was a box......they would replace it
So why not a cab....maybe I'm wrong...

What was the cause of the roof damage? Was it there when you bought it?

The damage was done in transfer to the dealership before I bought it.

So you missed the damage and accepted delivery? Or did you accept delivery based on a repair arrangement?

I missed the damage on delivery, and so did the salesman and the tech that done the Pre Delivery Inspection.

Man when I PDI'd cars that's a place to look I don't care if its a Toyota prius or a John Deere tractor its bad on that tech. Don't let them fill it most body shops do it to save time and don't usually do it right. I know of a few that will do it right but they are ran by friends or family and don't settle for anything but perfection. I would try to get them to trade truck straight up with one that has the same options and is up to your standards. New financing always cost something cause the people shuffling papers have to get paid some way so make sure you walk out without paying a thing or better yet get them for time and frustration. Make it worth or time to play their game cause they aren't in the business of losing money that's for sure. Good luck hope it works out.

Thanks for your advise. This is the first time I have EVER and I mean EVER spent this kind of money...I love my truck. I just don't know where to start now at this point, cause when I called Chrysler they told me that they are following what they are being told from the dealership. To be quite honest, I don't want them messing with putting a new cab on cause then they are taking apart my new truck, I would prefer a new truck but why should I have to pay out more money, loss money or have to get refinanced again

Did they tell you the total amount in $ that it would cost to fix it? My so called service manager told me day before yesterday that if there is damage on a new vehicle and it is below a certain $ figure, they do not have to tell the buyer. Find out the price to fix it. Then go to the General manager of that dealership and ask him if the price was low enough to NOT tell you.
Something is very fishy here!!!!

Most body shops have a life time warranty on their work. That's better than the factory warranty.

I still wouldn't want it fixed via bodywork.

I thought after a good night sleep, I might have a different outlook on this, but I don't.
Why should I settle for a new truck with filler, time to get a lawyer and have that person deal with this crap.

What state are you in? I went through a buy back with ford using an attorney. What your looking for is called an exchange of collateral. If the truck is more you pay the difference, less you get money back. The dealer notifies the bank of the new vin and that's usually it.

I thought you just exchanged the collateral. usually no money changes hands and the bank is just notified of the new VIN number

problem I think you might have is they may pull the card of whos to say it didn't happen at home kids playing and throwing something that bounds off, I mean I hope all goes smooth for you but if they decide not to cooperate so easily and pull something like that it would be very hard to prove since theres no documented evidence of it being there upon delivery

Oh yes there is !!!! I have pictures of the truck when I was just thinking about it (before I bought it) and that proved to the dealership the damage was there before I bought it.

Depends on price, if his truck is 51k and the new one is 52 because of a different option or so, they aren't going to eat that and vice versa.

confused...you have pics of the vehicle before you bought it which showed the damage. You bought it anyway, didn't say anything to the dealer, took it home and then went back to get it fixed?
Feel your pain buddy. if the dealer is willing to fix it at no cost...that's pretty good.
Sucks anyway...lesson learned on the next buy.

There is no confusion, you don't understand. The day I went down to look at RAM'S, it was -23 and the one I wanted to look at was buried in the back, but the same truck with a different color was up front and rather then pulling out the one I wanted to look at, they gave me that one to test drive....Now after being outside for 30 min in -23 temps looking at all the stuff the other truck had I was a bit cold and didn't look over the other truck as well...I WAS TOLD THEY WERE THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE COLOR.

Let me repeat myself...I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS THERE.
The salesman didn't see it, the tech didn't see it, 20 members of my family didn't see it, but I guess your perfect. thanks for the accusations, just what I needed.
