Door handle question

So I have a 2011 RAM SLT and it came with the chrome stick on door handle covers. I've been thinking, the door lock part of the handle is painted, so is the handle underneath the stick on chrome piece painted too? Anyone else here removed the chrome stick on door pieces? Cause if they are painted underneath I'll take the stupid chrome things off.

If so, I'm curious what's the best method for removing the chrome stick on handles?

I'm pretty sure under the chrome stick on is textured plastic. I think you can just look at it or feel it and tell.

I've peeked at it a few times but it's on there good enough I can't get a good look. If they are in fact textured plastic what a waste. No sense in painting the door lock part and leaving the rest unpainted all so they could put crappy Wal-Mart stick on chrome handles.
