Have to use the new speaker screws for mounting
Spacers installed.jpg
After all the reading here I used 1/4" spacers and they fit good
Door Panel reinstalled.jpg
The speakers and spacers fit nicely behind the door panels
All came apart and went together very smoothly. I spent maybe 2 hours installing front and rears.
The sound is a lot cleaner, but as I have read on here from others, bright too.
A very worthwhile project to do.

Do yourself a huge favor op....get some sound dampening mat inside those door panels. The improvement after upgrading the speakers is drastic. The dash speakers should also be on your list.

do you remove this plastic panel to install the dampening mat?

I didn't. I just added squares of sound mat as large as I could fit on several locations of the plastic. And added small pieces on anything that moves like the door lock rod. I bought 18 SQ feet of Noico 80mil from Amazon and did all four doors. Just bought another 18 sq feet to do the rear wall behind the back seat and the rear storage lids. Anything that has movement in it will vibrate when you crank the tunes. The Noico mat takes all of that away. I had anticipated adding a rear sub but I'm not so sure I need it anymore with just door and dash speakers.

You certainly could remove the plastic but I just placed sound mat on the metal behind the speaker when I had the speaker removed.
