Recall 2017 Ram 3500 Draglink they welded it instead of changing it, now alignment shops won’t touch it. When you buy an 75k truck this is not right.
This is the part I want to quote because there is a point I'd like to make.
So what if the truck cost 75 grand? Since when does some bloated amount paid for ANYTHING change the status of right VS. wrong?
MANY times, in the dealers I worked as a technician, and witnessed somebody bellowing how much they paid for their double-chuck machine as a legitimizer for why some "thing" should be paid for or shouldn't be so in the first place.
Sadly, all they ever did was embarrass themselves. The loudly broadcast of how much they paid for the vehicle didn't make even a slight difference in getting the right thing done.
While I 100% agree with your position, the cost of the truck means zilch. For me, the act of welding the drag link screams "You, dear customer, are worth nothing to _______________". Fill in the blank for whomever the manufacturer is.
It's not a fix, but an el cheap-o "that'll do" middle finger to you, et. al.
I'd wonder if THIS BYB fix doesn't qualify the owners of these trucks for some type of Class Action Lemon Law application.
I'm not trying to offend you, I think the injustice of these things transcends ALL economic portals. Peace.
P.S. I did have a similar problem with a vehicle years ago with Mitsubishi. Eventually, I traded the POS in on another vehicle. And, yes, the vehicle was very expensive. But, that wasn't even part of my thinking as to getting the problem resolved!
