Someone on the forum looked at trying do just that and came to the conclusion the transmission would overheat as the fluid wouldn't be forced to the cooler.

It's not just drilling out the old valve. You'd have remove the plug and gut the brass valve & spring. Then bore it for an interference fit plug to block the cross passage. Then plug the access bore hole. Faster and cost effective to buy one on Amazon.
