2018 Sport with tow package, the driver side mirror will not fold in on command, and the puddle light doesn't work. The turn signal function works, and I can adjust the mirror. Dimming feature works as well. Passenger side mirror, everything works as should. Where should I start? Looking to get the Morimoto XB mirror light upgrades, but need to get the puddle light working first. Thanks in advance

Went to install the Morimoto XB turn/puddle lights today, and found this...left is passenger side, right is driver side. The driver side was a PITA to get back on, and I still feel like it isn't on good, plus the up/down movement isn't as much as it was before. Plus the puddle light still does not work on the driver side. Any idea why the driver side "bracket" and mirror back looks different from the passenger side? The Youtube video that I watched was with a 2017 Sport, and the driver side mirror looks like my passenger side mirror. Even though the carfax was clean when I bought the truck, I am wondering if the mirror had been hit in the past, and now the incorrect internals are in there. Which would also make sense as to why the power fold doesn't work, and the mirror housing moves very easily in or out, plus no grinding sound when I hit the fold button.

I may be confused,

Are you stating that Morimoto mixed up in the instructions
writing that the drivers side mirror belongs on the Passenger side & visa versa ??

No, if you look at my pics, there is a difference in the mirror glass back, and the way it attaches to the mirror adjustment motor. The pics are backwards, the first is the passenger, and the second is the driver side. I'm confused as to why my driver side looks different than your driver side photo, and my passenger side mirror.

I'm thinking that there are 2 different mirror glass backings

I have not removed my 2016 mirror glass

but i did remove my the mirror glass on the other 2009 Dodge Ram that i had before.

The image above is off a 2018 Ram

No, if you look at the back, it is different, but still has the metal tabs. The squarish part isn't there, and the mirror itself has clips that clip to the motor. I'm not sure what internals are in there, because they do look OEM. I am able to move the mirror back into position with the door switch, but it does move odd(up and down now have a diagonalish movement), but I would really like the puddle light to work and hopefully the power fold. That's why I am wondering if this different style mirror glass and motor might have something to do with it. I doubt it does, but, you never know.

That is odd, on my 14, both mirrors had the square back mount.

You mentioned that the puddle light did not work

Doesn't work on the Morimoto unit either. After xmas, I am probably going to swap out the fold motor, and that will give me a chance to take the door panel off and check the wiring
